Dear [Library Manager/Director],
I am writing to express a concern regarding my recent visit to your library last week. I decided to come because a friend told me it is more beautiful than the Naugatuck Library. I went with my friend and our children, and at first, everything was wonderful. The two ladies at the front desk greeted us with warm smiles and made us feel very welcome.
However, I had an uncomfortable experience with one of your staff members — a man wearing glasses. Throughout our visit, he kept looking at me in a way that made me feel unwelcome and disrespected. I didn’t understand the reason for his behavior. I eventually asked him why he was staring, and only then did he look away and stop.
I believe that working in a library, especially one that welcomes families and children, requires kindness and respect toward all visitors. Before leaving, I shared what happened with one of the ladies at the desk. She was very kind, apologized, and said that the situation would be addressed.
Aside from this incident, I truly loved the library. It’s a beautiful place with many fun activities for kids, and my daughter enjoyed it a lot. I plan to return in the future, but I sincerely hope that all staff members will provide the same warm and respectful attitude as the two ladies who welcomed us.
Used to be a favorite place of mine until the COVID scare. Honestly, I know we have to all be cautious and careful. But I think about a year into it, it's a little extreme to walk into a place that has almost every nook and cranny wrapped in thick plastic with face shields and gloves that look like the hospital scene in E.T.. It's a LIBRARY, for crying out loud! Hospitals didn't even look like that at the height of COVID. Perhaps staying closed until things were better (and they WERE) was a better option.
Always a good experience. Staff are extremely helpful and responsive to my requests. Book selection is great!
This library has a great selection of books, but my family enjoys a lot of the activities, summer reading program, STEM, book related crafts, holiday events and much more. This library is greatly involved in their community. Over the summer of the children made homemade ice cream in a bag, they gave out Eclipse classes for the children and had an event for it, they have great book sales for $0.50 a paperback.... and I can go on. This is a great library to visit and an even better library to support.
