SPYNE Pilates and Simone have made a big difference for me. As a recovering Olympic athlete she has helped me strengthen my body (while making accommodations for the injuries from my past) to be stronger, flexible, and ready for the future!

As I 5-year veteran of private sessions with Simone, I enthusiastically encourage anyone to give it a try. Simone is a great instructor -- enthusiastic, knowledgeable, patient. Pilates was recommended as a way to continue rehab after surgery, and it was worth it. Now, I can't imagine not doing Pilates. From hundreds, to reformer, to planks ... I love it.

I enjoy going to SPYNE Pilates! I especially enjoy Mat classes, has help me with my breathing, stretching and overall makes my body feels good. The environment is amazing from the people that attend to the instructors. I recommend anyone to go check out SPYNE Pilates and try out the Mat classes and Barre strength classes.

I’ve been taking private reformer Pilates sessions with Simone since March 2025, and I can honestly say she’s the best instructor I’ve ever worked with. I’ve always tried to stay active, but she’s the first person who truly pays attention to form and technique in a way that actually changes your body. She doesn’t give out empty praise; she gives real guidance, real corrections, and genuinely cares about how each movement is executed.

Her meticulous approach has made such a difference for me, and I feel stronger, more aligned, and more confident every week. If you want an instructor who is invested in your progress and does things the right way, she’s the one. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love Spyne Pilates Studio. Both the Middlebury location (barre, mat, privates) and the Southbury location (reformer) are great studios with friendly atmospheres! Spyne has small class sizes (about 10 students for barre and mat, only 6 for reformer) so you get a lot of individual guidance from the instructors.

I personally attend the weekly barre classes in Middlebury, and reformer pilates classes five days a week in Southbury. If the studio is open, I am most likely attending a class. The classes are fun, upbeat, and a great workout. It's the only workout schedule I have ever actively looked forward to attending (even Simone's bright and early 8AM Monday class in Southbury). Bring water, you're going to need it every time!

I really appreciate how helpful each of the instructors are in their approach, it's really lovely how hard they work to provide a welcoming environment for students (they always introduce new or returning students, they make a point to greet everyone). Each instructor really gets to know their students, they remember important details (for example if someone requires a small modification due to a health reason).

You will learn a lot about yourself and your body. And! You'll find yourself incorporating the instructors' mottos into your day-to-day life! For example, you'll be walking through the grocery store and hear Liana say "shoulders down ladies!" Or you'll hear Simone counting out your breath work (in through the nose for 4, out through pursed lips for 4). Or Denise's way of slowly counting you down, purposefully keeping time. You'll find ways of incorporating your pilate lessons into other aspects of your life!

Each instructor (Simone, Liana, and Denise), all approach class in different ways. You'll find yourself wanting to take each of their lessons specifically for how they individually teach.

It’s really rewarding to reach milestones in any of the classes with any of the instructors and have them praise you on your progress. It truly feels like they make a point to know their students well enough to congratulate them when they improve in a difficult workout.

Y'all, four months ago I could not hold a plank to save my life and now I look forward to planks just so I can feel the difference in how much has changed.

And let me add for my anxious girls, if you're worried about the “mean girl” stereotype that seems to follow pilate studios, don’t be. Spyne’s focus is on form, fitness, and improving your flexibility and strength. Each of the instructors are great, they each foster a kind, encouraging atmosphere that you will see reflected in the students. I knew no one the first time I attended class and now I look forward to socializing with the ladies I’ve met at both studios. Trust me, you will make friends, you’ll have fun, and maybe (like me) you’ll learn to like planks once you discover your shoulder strength!
