I love this church! Genuine community. They are truly interested in you. It's very Chinese American, with separate service rooms for the Chinese speakers and the English speakers, but held at the same time (10am). After service there is lunch provided for everyone, and it's always delicious, prepared by rotating groups.
The service style is modeled after the Brethren movement which means there is a public prayer time where we worship what the Lord did on the cross for us to save us and this is followed by taking Communion bread and grape juice.
There is a Friday night fellowship for the youth (6th-12th grade) with speakers, Bible studies, and more. There is Sunday discussion groups after the message for the College and Career age group, High school age group, Middle school, elementary school, as well as older Adults. There is also many small groups for Chinese and English speakers every Friday night. The group is very welcoming to newcomers, visiting you at your home and getting to know you. There is plenty of opportunities to serve and do missions with a nursing home fellowship, and a 3 day gospel camp, Sunday school teaching opportunities, music ministry, and food ministry.
Because the Brethren movement churches are set up without a "senior pastor" and instead are governed by a handful of ruling elders (unpaid positions), the church budget is run rather efficiently, doing a lot of ministries and missions projects with very little funds. It's also all transparent.
There are also a lot of barbecues, dumpling nights, retreats, and home gatherings all the time. It's great.
Fantastic church with outreach opportunities, ministry serving opportunities for regular people, and tons of community building opportunities. The small groups are the best kept secret in Bergen County. They really care about you.
Pass these 5 stars up to the Lord!!!
hell yea
