Wonderful library. The lady who reads to the kids is also amazing.
This is a pretty small library. It seems like it used to be a house. It does have a lovely reading area with comfortable chairs by a fireplace. The main entrance is up a LONG set of stairs, but there is a ground level entrance with an elevator. There is no sidewalk - one must cross a low-traffic street from the parking lot and either head into the ground floor entrance or walk along the side of the road or in the grass to reach the front steps. The folks manning the main desk are extremely friendly and helpful.
I love coming to this library and bringing my younger brothers here. The library is well-stocked with plenty of mystery and thrillers for a fan of the genre like myself. The library staff is always welcoming and helpful for new readers like myself. My go-to place for work/reading and I highly recommend to anyone in Colts Neck/Monmouth community.
Colts Neck Library isn’t our closest library to home, however, we visited because they were the closest library that had the book we needed the following day!
This library looks like it might have been a house at one time. Located in a beautiful area of Colts Neck, it has plenty of parking. There are other buildings around the same parking lot which I think are Municipal Buildings. There was a large lake which could make for a fun afternoon for a mom of smaller children to visit the library & then turn it into a picnic around the water. Others may just enjoy a walk around it.
This library is on the smaller side, considering we are used to the Headquarters in Manalapan. We found the librarian that greeted us at the front desk to be friendly. She was extremely knowledgeable & helped us locate the book that was not on the shelf, but a recent return on the cart. She could have easily said, if it’s not on the shelf, it must be out. She was a life saver & because of this, we would certainly visit again & highly recommend this library to others.
Inside looked clean. It has that Colts Neck rustic vibe (if that makes sense). There were large chandeliers, and people on computers when you walk in the main area. To one side is a room with an adorably decorated kids area & on the other side a cozy reading area with comfortable chairs & a fireplace. When we visit again in the future, I will take note & update further. With the A+ service we received, definitely worth the visit.

Nice well-stocked library. Main floor has a few side rooms, including one with high backed chairs and a fireplace. But this top floor isn't suited to sitting and reading quietly or working on a laptop, as there are no tables with outlets (except one in a corner) and the acoustics are awful. I don't like listening to librarians's personal calls while I try to do research. Overall good space for a quick in-and-out tho.
