As an agnostic Humanist, Ethical Culture is consistent with my religious philosophy of putting deed before creed, treating everyone with dignity and respect, working to always bring out the best in myself & others and a commitment to social action to never stop working for a better world. THIS is the philosophy of Ethical Culture. I feel so very fortunate to have found The Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County over 40 years ago where my children learned about ethics, social action engagement, protection of our environment & so much more in the vibrant Sunday School program. This is a truly wonderful community for anyone looking for a place to provide their children with an ethical education and/or a place to call home for all who believe in people, peace & progress without necessarily believing in a supreme being. This community is needed now more than ever….
I have finally found a community! Until I joined the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, I enjoyed solitude, independence. I was not a "joiner". The subjects of Platforms are educational and fascinating. The friendships are invaluable. I fit in! I recommend visiting if only to experience what Germans call Gemutlichkeit (comfort).
If you want a welcoming community that is focussed on making the world a better place check out the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County. Members of the Society have access to lots of cool activities - the Sunday School runs a vibrant program for the little ones with tons of trips and activities and adults can join in on social activities, take classes like meditation and eating, join book clubs, take part in fundraisers and social action events and much more. Our family joined for the Sunday School when our kids were littles, now they are both grown up but we have stayed for the friendship and chance to learn grow and contribute for ourselves.
This is a great place for people seeking an alternative to a traditional congregation. The members are warm and inviting. It doesn't matter whether you believe in God or not - this place is about deed above creed and the members are committed to environmentalism, equity, inclusion and social justice, There are weekly meetings on Sunday mornings, a Sunday school for kids, a youth group and programs and special events throughout the year. If you're looking for a way to meet fellow community-minded progressives, give this place a try.
Saw a old movie here. Very nice people. Donations were voluntary and they even offered free food. I will be going back the next time they offer an event. I recommend this place. Non-sectarian they welcome all people all religions.
