We were missing a stronger connection with our Jewish culture, and found it immediately at the reform Jewish Temple Shalom of Aberdeen. Even as a working mother of two, it was easy to get involved because the kids made friends and became involved in religious school and outside youth activities. I also felt a personal sense of belonging without being overwhelmed - it was a perfect fit!
My family has been proud members of Temple Shalom for over 35 years, and it has truly been the spiritual home for multiple generations of our family. I had my Bar Mitzvah here, and years later, my children have or will soon celebrate their B’nai Mitzvahs here as well.
Temple Shalom has always been more than just a synagogue—it has been a community that grows with you through every stage of life. Under Rabbi Malinger’s guidence, the congregation has remained welcoming, supportive, and deeply rooted in tradition, while also always striving to be forward-thinking. What stands out most is that Temple Shalom is truly open to all, creating a place where everyone feels they belong.
We are grateful for the countless memories, friendships, and meaningful moments that Temple Shalom has given our family over the decades, and we look forward to many more years together in this special community.
We’ve been members of Temple Shalom for many years. It has been our synagogue for religious school, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Shabbat/ High Holy Day services, & much more. Our children have had a great experience.
Rabbi Malinger is wonderful! You couldn’t ask for better staff & congregants… a warm, caring, fun community. Members can be as involved as they wish. There is such a variety of services, events, etc., for all ages & interests.

Great temple! Warm and welcoming! I have been a member 29 years, my children went through k to 12 Hebrew School at Temple Shalom. As an interfaith family we have always have been comfortable as members.
