Very disappointed in this church experience. I had started out very excited to attend and did about 7 times. I even attended their pathway zoom class as I was eager to join a UU church and to volunteer. I have extra time and flexibility working for myself, and wanted to give in the community. Unlike other churches I’ve attended, I was not welcomed. I even stayed for coffee hours many times, yet members did not go out of their way to meet me, awkward. I am friendly and not shy, so I initiated conversations with others. I love the UU principals and so was surprised this church didn’t feel more friendly rather “clicky”. Rev Kim’s Service is great but I was wanting a warm community also. I had even written a couple friendly emails directly to the church in which I got no responses. I triple checked it was the correct email, it was. A few times on Sunday, I filled out a form to get a name tag that awaits you each Sunday; I would go back excitedly to have a name tag like others and then would not have one. I would fill out a temporary guest one and another request form again and again. My husband started joking when I would come home from church and ask, “did you get a name tag yet?” I would say NOPE!! The member at the name Tag table said something like “they’re not quick about making them.” Maybe that was a sign. I since tried another UU church where I was VERY welcomed day one and continue to enjoy the kinder, friendlier environment. I don’t know how many people do not come back to this church after trying because of the experience I had, but I imagine many. Not very good on the business side seeing how churches depend on offering and pledging. This church would benefit in putting more effort in a welcoming committee. Maybe my experience is different from other new members, though I did hear this from 2 other newcomers that had come for many months. I am a friendly person who I believe to be approachable and I showered right before I came each time, lol! Oh well, Best of luck if you try!

Update: I did get a response from my emails, five days later.

Enjoyed this venue on 1/11/26 for a fantastic show by flamenco guitarist Twanguero (Diego Garcia). Out in the middle of nowhere east of Washington Crossing SP and Titusville, NJ. Quite an impressive building, very modern and soaring and somewhat lacking in ambience, but the acoustics are spectacular. Parking is a little tight, so get there early.

I have visited this church off and on for the past couple of years. While I adore their reverend, as well as her sermons, I was treated rather rudely by one of their ushers/"welcome committee" members.

I have a tendency to arrive at church early; I like to take a seat in the back, review the order of service, and listen to the choir practice. I've been to many UU churches over the years - including this one - and have *never* had a problem. That is, until today.

As I was entering the sanctuary, and reaching for an order of service, a church member - I assume she was either an usher or a member of the "welcome committee" rudely stopped me from taking an order of service, and asked me to leave the sanctuary, as the "choir [was] practicing". I was taken aback by her tone, and explained to her that I "always listened to them practice" (as this is a form of relaxation for me). She gave some half-baked excuse about an "auction" the night before, and tried to backtrack on her abruptness, attempting to make small talk with me. But at this point, the damage was done. I also saw her stop an elderly gentleman with a cane from entering...and he seemed as flummoxed as I was. Eventually, she let us all in.

For a "welcoming congregation", I felt less than welcomed. And I highly doubt that I will be returning. Which is a shame, as Rev. Wildszewski is one of the best around.
