Such an incredible place that not only showcases history, but is also a part of history. You’ll see things here you won’t see anywhere else. Worth the trip and the time. Thank you Akin Free Library!

A wonderful treasure of a place.
I haven’t been there since 2001, and it’s still there!

Open for visitors in 2022, Saturday and Sunday at 1pm.

Go there and see all the amazing history!

Amazing place. Just discovered it by chance when our route back to NYC was blocked off. The wonderful custodian kindly let us inside to use the rest rooms, gave a wonderful tour and provided directions on how to reach Rt.22.
What more could you ask for!

This is an amazing gem, architecturally beautiful. The top floor is the historical society exhibit, middle floor is library and conference rooms, lower level a very strange, cool natural history display- reminds me of the "Cabinet of Curiosity" at the turn of the century. There's collections of birds, butterflies, insects, and strange things in jars!!
Definitely worth a visit. And near-by Pawling is a wonderful little town!
