Your only option in NYC for that dark liberating industrial techno experience. Fantastic sound system for the main stage. Their second stage, studio, leaves a bit to be desired — it’s more of a bonus though.
If you’re trans don’t worry about the bouncers, they know we belong here.
Come on a Saturday night, Fridays have more tourists and people who don’t know how to put their phone away.
Would raise to 5 stars if they started kicking out people who still use their phones on the dance floor.
This place is awesome, it’s grimy, sweaty, loud, built like a maze you can’t get too lost in. Definitely more tressor than berghain. The true cherry on top of what made this place so special was the staff, specifically Donnish, a bartender on the studio side. I had a really annoying phone call that almost ruined my night but this man saved it. He revived my dead soul in one shot and with a kindness unmatched by any nyc bartender. It’s worth going just to see him smile.
This basement club is pure madness, hands down one of the most insane nights I’ve ever had! From the moment I stepped in, the energy hit me like nothing else. I still remember coming to USA six years ago and seeing the NYC dance scene for the first time, and now this place just takes it to a whole new level. The music, the crowd, the lights everything is next level. Absolutely unforgettable, completely immersive, and just pure euphoria. If you ever get the chance, don’t miss it it’s an experience you’ll never forget ✨🪐✨
Still a great place, but Quality has gone down. Used to be one of the only places that strictly enforced their vibe rules, which really made the atmosphere what it was.
Three of the defining features were its No photo/video policy,
no phones out on the dancefloor,
and a door policy to weed out clout chasers. All of that has started to go away. Ive had flash photos taken of me, people with their phones at max brightness at the rail, and a vibe that has started to cater to social media influencers rather than an actual experience.
The phone on the dancefloor is pretty annoying because the club is so dark that a phone screen acts as floodlight into your eyes. And just kills the vibe so hard when the people at the rail care more about their social media than dancing.
Seen so many people taking the stickers off their cameras, knowing that no one could take and post photos of me while we’re vibing was so comfortable.
They DO take sexual/physical safety seriously, they’ve kicked out people ive reported for touching my friends and i inappropriately! Which is awesome.
I just hope they start to enforce the phone related rules again.
One of if not the best club in New York. Be aware that they have a STRICT vibe check and you need to be there to dance. If you don’t know the music, you likely won’t get in. All black recommended.
Is mostly deep trance electronic music. Don’t expect pop remixes. The vibe is Berlin underground rave scene. Worth the haul to Maspeth!
