I am originally from LI. For me, finding good Italian food in the Hudson Valley has not been all that easy. Carmella's, you did an awesome job. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was good, and the food was fantastic. This man and his family will be showing their faces at this establishment again for sure.

Had a horrible dine-in experience a couple weekends ago. Let me start off by saying that pre-remodel, my family and I ordered from Carmelas all of the time. Their food was very, very good. My husband and I went in on a Saturday at 12:15. There were two other tables with people in the entire restaurant with two patrons each. The young woman at the front said someone would be with us shortly. Before the waitress came over, the young woman at the front asked the waitress, "Are we doing lunch menus today?" The waitress just said, "No." We continued to sit and wait. Fifteen minutes went by and the waitress was nowhere to be found and the woman at the front was chatting with the pizza guy. Nobody acknowledged us. My husband went up to get menus and very politely asked, "Do you have a lunch menu? Also, we haven't been approached by our waitress yet." The women told us, verbatim, "It's too late in the day for the lunch menu." They open at 11 and it was 12:15. The waitress overheard and snapped that she was taking a very long catering order in the back and would be in a couple of minutes. No, "Sorry to keep you waiting." Nothing. And clearly, a blatant lie that it was too late, 12:15 on a Saturday, to offer lunch specials? Hard up for cash or tips, Carmelas? If it was that you don't offer lunch specials on the weekends, just say that, why lie and say it's too late in the day? Bizarre. We left before the waitress even came back and went to Cascarinos and got a delicious lunch for half of the price with way better service.

First time I tried this restaurant I ordered the chicken parm and it was good. I will note
That the tomato sauce is very bland. I appreciate it is not super sweet and more balanced with sweet/acidity. I have ordered the parm again and it’s good, not great. I do appreciate that the cutlets have a bit of crispness. Thinner pieces of chicken would
Make it better. The pizza was good the first time I tried it, could have been bc I was starving. The time after that it was not good. The dough lacks flavor and is too tough, dry, and has entirely too much flour on it after cooking. The sauce is also really bland, it needs more oregano and or basil and a pinch more salt. The pasta is often overcooked, not Al dente. 1-2 min less cook time would great. The garlic bread could be really good if it wasn’t so dry. It needs butter. The service is not the best despite not having more than 6-8 tables at most. I do notice it’s not a busy place .

waitress was nice but was extremely slow and there are not many tables in there. You can tell the cheese on the stuff shells was old. The stuffing of the shells was def frozen , pasta shells were cooked okay the outside was warm inside was piping hot so probably microwaved , salad was old no flavor and had no crunch it was soggy bread was good even though it was brought almost at the end and I had to ask for it because she forgot it. salad came with the dinner not first and the sauce was extremely salty. Its a pizza joint but when you walk in you would assume a resturant. for 19.00 I got 3 baby stuffed shells. The food LOOKED great and was presented well but overall no taste really except the salt. Its a shame to because any other resturant here in Montgomery is terrible like really terrible sothey could have something good going here but absolutely no passion. Place looks amazing its brand new inside but that kitchen lacks any cooking skills.
