A friend and I take Metro North from NYC each Christmas season to shop and have lunch in Cold Spring. Our first stop is the General Store and we never leave empty handed. They have a wonderful selection of beautifully displayed unique gifts. The staff and owner are very welcoming and this week we had the pleasure of meeting Hudson, who greets visitors with a friendly bark and his toy. We love this store. This shop has a great assortment of gifts and goods plus friendly and helpful staff.
I love this store. The minute you open the door there is a warm welcome and cozy feeling.
There is nothing like a general store feeling where I just enjoy all the wonderful items to choose , from local honey to clothing.
A must shop store if you are in Cold Spring. I especially love it in the fall.
June 16, 2025 UPDATE:
I purchased a Barbour jkt on May 18 and asked them to order a hood to go with it and ship it to me. I took home my other purchases.
Not a problem I was informed our pleasure.
There was an issue with UPS and Rebecca was on top of it. It’s a long story so I won’t go into it but I finally received my 📦 😃 package.The store did everything perfectly this was an ups issue.
I love my jacket.
I come from a luxury wholesale career and now work for a luxury world class retailer.
The customer service that was extended to me at The General Store is equal to any store on Madison Avenue in Nyc.
The icing on the cake was the heartwarming lovely post card I received in my package.

The man who owner of "Cold Spring General Store" gifted my husband and me a sweet postcard, and it was such a lovely surprise! This small gesture made our visit feel extra special.
