Did the online application and went in person after online was approved. Went on a wed morn and was taken within minutes. Seemed too good to be true. They handed back the photos so I really wish they would say photos aren’t needed. Hoping the pick up process is just as smooth next week.
There are different lines for different things. I arrived around 1.30pm on a Friday afternoon to drop off my passport and application for a tourist visa, and waited about an hour with 45 people ahead of me.
Although it was busy (standing room only) I found the consulate to be well organized and efficient. If you don’t want to wait long go in the morning or early in the week. Bring something to read. They won’t give you wi-fi access so you won’t be able to work on your laptop.
UPDATE
I just returned to pick up my passport at 2.30pm on a Wednesday and it was literally empty. Still fully staffed. I was in and out in under 5 mins. Don’t go on a Friday afternoon if you can help it.
The wait was 2.5 hours on Friday afternoon, so I assume this is a peak time and peak wait?? (from 1:00-3:30p) was how long I was there for, for 1 queue. It’ll be longer if you don’t have ALL your documents and need to queue up again.
But the process itself at the window is very quick as long as youu have the documents (5 minutes max). The site isn’t very clear on the documents you need so I’ll list them below so you don’t have to queue up a new number and wait again. I was very lucky the security guard, Mohammed, was very kind and gave me a quarter to photocopy right then and there for a missing document the site doesn’t say.
1. Passport
2. Printed copy of passport
3. 7-9 pg Full app cova form
4. 1-2 pg Application page (incl. w cova)
5. Declaration statement if necessary for lost expired visa
6. The one the site does not explicitly state: a PRINTED COPY of your license/ID, not just having ur license/ID
What you do NOT need was a 2x2 printed passport photo of yourself (if you’re not a new visa applicant)
- also I ran the checklist over w AI to make sure I had all the documents as well so it definitely is the websites lack fo clarity for the need of #6.
I will come back to update the review when I pick up the visa as well. 4 stars for now for the intense wait time and lack to site clarity :)
So far so good while in line. Got here around 9:30 and a short way about 10 minutes.
Security is nice and check if I have paper work. Then go to this lady who will look at your application.
Then you go to another line. I forgot my passport but hope they don’t need it.
