I've been at Dowling College for over 20 years. It's a great place. Our students, faculty, staff and administration are all dedicated to working together to make Dowling a wonderful place to learn and grow - and that's what Dowling is! We are proud of our alumni and enjoy staying in touch with them as they move on to build exciting and successful careers. We also love meeting and working with new students each semester. The campus atmosphere is excellent, with live plays, music concerts and recitals in the PAC and a wide variety of sporting events to enjoy either as a participant or a spectator; we also have numerous honor societies, clubs and teams on campus. Overall, 5/5 stars for Dowling College!

When I was working towards my bachelor's degree at Dowling College I was in a stage of my life where I needed guidance. Being a philosophy major, I was still deciding on what I wanted to pursue after my undergraduate degree and in what direction my life was heading. The support I received from the philosophy department, however, fostered my intellectual growth and drive to succeed to the point that I went on to receive a graduate degree, enter the field of finance, and teach college philosophy myself.

Calling Dowling the "personal college" isn't just a gimmick; it truly captures the essence of the faculty's desire to contribute to the lives of their students in any way that they can. I say with confidence that if it weren't for many of the professors that helped me along my undergraduate journey, I wouldn't be as successful as I am today. In fact, I still keep in touch with many of them, and they all continue to be as influential now as they were back then.

I highly recommend Dowling College to anyone seeking an atmosphere filled with knowledge, care, and the development of lasting relationships.

I loved going to college here! To be completely honest, the four years I spent at Dowling were the best college experience I could ask for. I am a soon-to-graduate Ph.D. student (5th year) in the Materials Science and Engineering Dept at Stony Brook University and I feel that my major in chemistry and minor in biology/math really prepared me for graduate school, giving me a complete background to be able to tackle more advanced classes and research work. I believe that individual people make their own experiences. Entering college shouldn’t be treated as an endpoint where you just sit in classes and never try to challenge yourself. College is certainly a journey that is enriched when you join clubs and perhaps even take on a small research project in a topic you’re interested in.

Pretty much every science (and humanities) professor I had was excellent – well versed in their field and able to explain things clearly and with patience. I felt the best parts of Dowling were the small class sizes and the availability/accessibility of the professors to meet one on one for homework help or just to discuss career plans. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this school to anyone, as long as they realize that education does take significant effort on the part of the student – you get out what you put in!

Dowling College is a gem of an institution, nestled on the banks of the Great South Bay. My experience at Dowling College has been nothing short of exceptional. Dowling offers students, particularly commuter students, an education at a great value. Upon my acceptance to Dowling College as a transfer student, I was immediately granted a $3,000 scholarship based on my GPA alone, a 3.2. As a transfer student from Wagner College on Staten Island, I was unaccustomed to the personal nature of the college. Dowling is the Personal College. I found dealing with the college’s administrative staff to be refreshing to the sour attitudes I encountered at my previous school, Wagner College on Staten Island. Not only does the administration treat students as human beings but I have encountered some of the finest professors of my undergraduate career. The professors of the Political Science department have all given me an insight into my major that I could never experience anywhere else. I also found amazing professors in the English, Anthropology, Sociology and Natural Science department. With small class sizes, students are able to receive the attention of professors, as well as providing an atmosphere that encourages debate and student participation. Dowling College allows for all professors to know the names of all their students, as well as allowing for professors to effectively help and lead students towards success.
I believe Dowling College to be the best choice for all students in Suffolk County because its offers small classes and an education for a great price that no other colleges in Suffolk Country afford. Dowling College is a superior choice to other schools in Suffolk and Nassau County for students living in Suffolk because they save gas and room expenses as commuters. As compared to other schools in Nassau that Suffolk students may attend, such as Hofstra and Adelphi, students save themselves from a two hour commute. A semester’s cost, though more expensive than Stony Brook University, is of greater value due to the attention that student’s receive from their professors and administrators.
Another aspect of Dowling College that I can not praise more highly, is that fact that Dowling College saved me about 12,000 dollars!!!! This is because they accepted a semester's worth of AP credits that allowed me to graduate a semester early! After my third meeting with Mary, a wonderful member of Dowling College’s administrative staff, I found out that I would be graduating a semester early because they accepted a score of 3 or better on all AP classes.
I would highly recommend Dowling College to all students in Suffolk county who are looking for a better education than that offered from Suffolk County Community College. I spent a summer taking 6 credits as Suffolk. The walk from the parking lot to my classroom at Suffolk County Community College is three times as long as my walk from my car to classroom at Dowling. Dowling College also offers all aviation classes, and a few other classes, at the Brookhaven campus which is closer for students out East. I absolutely loved Dowling College and cannot recommend it highly enough. It is the IDEAL college for Suffolk County and East Nassau students and outweighs the competition in terms of tuition, class size, and the respect that students are given by professors and administrators.

Dowling College is a very personal college where the professors take the time to learn each students name and personality; the student isn't just another I.D. number at this institution. The professors go above and beyond to help students; these are true educators dedicated to doing everything in their powers to help students, rather than just teaching their classes and going home. I had an incident where I got an unfair grade from a professor, and my academic adviser, Dr. Karp, helped contact the professor during the break between semesters, ultimately resulting in my getting the proper grade.
