This is the historical house of prayer of
Rev. Herbert Daughtry. I attended the service to hear my Pastor speak, to my surprise I found I was on sacred historical ground. The undercroft of the church bared witness to the Civil Rights Movement. I was honored and humbled to be in the presence of all this greatness.
I encourage you to visit, for the word and the history.
My mom went here. It was the pillar if her faith and incredible experiences. I am truly thankful for this place of worship.
Great neighborhood worship house. Love that they intertwine spiritual and political teachings
The historic House of the Lord is highly community engaged and has been at the forefront of many battles for the rights of people from Brooklyn to Belfast and beyond. The walls of the Fellowship Hall tell stories through banners & pictures that there's no separation between church and state. The "People's Pastor", Rev. Dr. Herbert D. Daughtry is known worldwide for standing for justice and leads a flock of (parishioners) like-minded action taking thinkers. This is not your average Pentecostal Church. For example: every year for the Atlantic Antic Street Fair - they don't stay behind closed doors and just have service amongst themselves, they take the service to the streets. They are outside with the people engaging and sharing the word of God and more. Some members walk the blocks of the Atlantic Avenue fair (from 4th Avenue to Court Street). Minister's are available for prayer with those requesting it/in need. And the Choir sings on there made stage in front of the church for over two hours - People have come to know this and expect it as an annual routine or means of connecting. I could give many other examples - I've shared this one because we're in the month of September and this will happen again on Sunday the 23rd. And I'll leave you to do a simple fact-finding search if your interest has been peaked.
Yes, I may be a little bias. I have been an active member for twenty-three years.
Is a church to meet every need. It's wonderful here. You find love, joy and peace
