JBJ Renovations

Thought I'd give a shout out as an architect finishing their third, beautiful, perfectly executed project with JBJ. Their crew is so talented and considerate, their operations team is organized and their leadership is hands on. We've done interiors (bathrooms) and exteriors (full facade renovation) together. I have not found a project or a detail they can't execute as designed. Oh, and no hidden costs or unwarranted extras charges - honest and principled. High recommend!

I had a terrific experience with JBJ. After a flood ruined the floor in my apartment, James came immediately on the scene and shifted the sense of chaos to one of confidence within a few hours. I had to make quick decisions, and James offered direction with a concrete plan of action. It was clear that I couldn’t live in the apartment and would have to handle this project from out-of-town. I felt comfortable leaving NYC knowing that James was on it. I followed James’ lead as he helped me think through the initial steps. He was patient, responsive to questions, and always returned my texts and calls promptly. James consistently went the extra mile, initially protecting my valuable personal items on-site, and accommodating my schedule over the course of the many month project. Working together with designer Sara Mosele, James restored the floor of my apartment into something new, light, and inviting, completely elevating the look and feel of the space. It’s simply beautiful. I was lucky to find James when I did, and I cannot recommend JBJ highly enough.

JBJ completed our brownstone multifamily renovation in Brooklyn. We were very happy with the outcome and even more so that they were on schedule. The only only delays we encountered were due to materials or weather. The team was professional and knowledgeable and we felt comfortable with the crew in our home (we lived there throughout the renovation). Even after completion of the work, any items that have come up have been addressed - James and his team remain accessible and responsible.

We were extremely pleased and satisfied with the JBJ’s expert advice, professionalism, quality and speed of work. James is a pleasure to work with. He is honest and delivers to expectations through a dedicated team who are committed to excellence.

We are so thrilled with the renovation that you completed in our brownstone! You were not the first contractor that we’ve dealt with as we’ve done numerous other renovations, but what made you stand out is your commitment to the job, your high standards for impeccable work and your excellent communication skills. You never pulled the team that worked on our house when materials did not arrive in a timely manner. Other contractors think nothing about pulling the team out and leaving you stranded with no workers for 2 to 3 weeks. You also assembled an outstanding team of skilled craftsmen, each specializing in a different aspect of the renovation. And when one of the craftsman was not doing as good as job as you thought they should, you thought nothing of letting them go and bringing in someone more skilled and fit for the job.

You constantly communicated with us and were on the site every single day to make sure that everything was going according to plan. And when something was not as perfect as you thought it should be, I heard you ask your workers to redo it! I didn’t have to say anything because you noticed the imperfection before I did.

The work that you completed is outstanding, and everyone who has come into the house has commented at the beautiful job that you and your excellent team accomplished. The rebuilt stairs are superb, the bathroom and powder room are outstanding, and the kitchen came out like one that you see in magazines. Although the house had many surprises due to its age, you completed the job in the time that you said you would. That is rare among many contractors.
