It has taken time to come up with the right words to express my experience with this business.
I moved to Belle Mead in July of 2024. My cat had seasonal skin allergies. What was of concern was that her belly was discolored in a small area. I wanted her to get treated professionally since this was something different. I made an appointment in Aug for this issue and a physical. I gave instructions to the front desk when I made my appointments and needed my cat to come in the least visits due to her temperment. I was told no issues. Visit 1 was her skin issue and physical. Visit two was her vaccines and dental cleaning I requested. During visit one I expressed concern for her skin since she removed 1/3 of the hair on her stomach and had a brown spot in the middle of her belly. I was told that the discoloration was due to her overgrooming. I was given instructions to closely observe her and that she needed to be kept coned. My cat received a shot of an antibiotics and oral meds for inflammation. After the first visit, improvement lasted a day or so. No follow up call from the business.
Sep: This visit wasn't skin related but I did notice the same antibiotic given from the first visit. During this visit they discovered a heart murmur and anemia. My only question was if they were concerned about heart problems, why proceed with a dental surgery? Follow up call to confirm all blood and fecal were normal.
Oct: I expressed that her skin got worse. She had a spread of what looked like black pepper across her abdomen. Her discoloration spread from her stomach to her inner thighs. I asked for other forms of treatment. My cat was given the same antibiotic given on visit 1 and visit 2 and a steriod (by my request). The doctor collected a swab and said it was only bacteria. I was advised not to bath her and keep her coned except during meals. No follow up call from business.
Nov: By this time, this skin condition spread to her neck (brown). Behavior: Eating and drinking was normal. Cat showed agitation at times probably due to not being able to groom herself. Eventually she was able to bite her inner leg. I upgraded her cone for the 3rd time. After being told the same thing for the last 3 months with little improvement. I wanted to get a second opinion. Unfortunately, my cat passed away. Not sure if this was distress but I do know it did not have to end in her death.
I would give 10 stars if I could. I love this place so much. Everyone was so kind and you can tell that everyone truly cares about your pet. I will forever bring my pets here.
I've been using Belle Mead as my veterinary facility for 30 years. Eighteen years while living in Hillsborough and the last 12 while living in Fords. I continue to make the 20+ mile trips there with our varied assortment of cats because they are, IMHO, the best veterinarian hospitals I've ever used in my lifetime. Front desk staff, techs and vets are all first class and genuinely concerned about the welfare and treatment of our pets. I've personally interacted with several of the vets including Dr. Martin, Dr Somjen and Dr. Blanco and appreciate their knowledge and guidance in regards to our pets care and well-being. Thanks to you all at Belle Mead Vet.
Thank you, Dr. Blanco for making sure our pup was well taken care of. You can tell this office cares about the pets over profits. This will now be our “go to” vet practice.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Warm, Friendly, and Truly Passionate About Animals
Dr. Martins is hands down one of the best veterinarians we’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! From the second he walked in the room, his outgoing and friendly personality made both us and our pet feel completely at ease. He greets every animal like an old friend and treats pet parents with the same warmth and respect.
What really stands out is how approachable he is. He explains everything clearly, never rushes through appointments, and always makes time for questions or just a friendly chat. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that energy is contagious.
It’s comforting, knowing that all of all my pets are in good hands and that’s all thanks to Dr. Martin’s kind, enthusiastic, and down-to-earth approach.
If you’re looking for a vet who’s not only highly skilled but also personable and fun to be around, Dr. Martin is the one. We’re so grateful to have found him!
