ChamberWalk is a lovely cafe with a relaxed atmosphere . The seating is comfortable, the tables are spaced appropriately apart for ease of conversation. Local artists work is featured. The food is delicious and of quality with generous portions. The service is excellent and friendly!
Consider eating here. I have been to Chambers Walk multiple times. I have eaten "in" a handful of times and taken out. Overall the food quality and preparation is good and okay value for money. My recommendation is to stick with basic fare as there more complex preparations miss the mark frequently - such as seafood pasta, pan seared sea bass. I have found significant inconsistencies in their meat and fish temperature and the amount of seafood that goes into the pasta, for example. The lunch service and menu is more manageable. I am trying hard for my last experience (as a takeout) last evening to not influence this review - as it would have been a one star review. I ordered a beef burger with Mozzarella and the meatball starter as a takeaway. I got there five minutes later than the order ready time but still waited another ten minutes to receive my order - not a big deal. Actually I was happy, as I figured the wait would mean a fresher preparation (and not one that had been sitting under a heat lamp). When I was going to pay, I offered to use the QR code. I asked if there was a charge for the QR code and I was informed that there was a charge of 3% to pay by credit card or the QR code. I have my opinion of such surcharges, but I will keep that to myself. When I asked if the surcharge was disclosed on their menu (online or in restaurant) I was told the surcharge was stated clearly on the receipt. I informed the gentleman that the law requires full disclosure of such charges by clear signage. There was no such signage in the restaurant. There was no mention of this on the menu, either in the restaurant or online. Hence, the 3% charge comes as a total surprise at the end of the meal or at the time of pickup/payment. I have reported the offense to the appropriate authorities and I hope the restaurant rectifies this immediately. Now to the food. I live 5 minutes away from the restaurant. When I opened my order, the burger was cold as were the fries. The meat was way undercooked (I had requested medium temperature). The fresh mozzarella appeared to be one of the sliced mozzarella that you see in the grocery store and was just stacked on the burger (not melted and cold). The appearance of the burger was appealing but once you actually looked at it - it was extremely disappointing. I basically had to deconstruct the burger and grill it on a pan and, melt the cheese and heat the fries in the oven; all pretty much destroying a major reason for getting a take away. The meatballs were okay - warm - nothing to write home about. My suspicion is the burger was cooked first and I as waiting for the meatballs to be ready which then made the burger pretty much inedible by the time I got home. It is lucky that I have eaten here a few times, because if last evening was my first experience, it would certainly have been the last. Disappointed by the service I received and disappointed by the food. Do give this place a chance and dine here - maybe avoid take away; but know that you may not have consistency from meal to meal. It is a nice neighborhood restaurant, staff are friendly and the atmosphere is casual and nice. I have struggled between 2 stars and 3 stars - I arrived at 2 stars because of the bait and switch experience last evening. I cannot forgive an establishment for not declaring its surcharges in advance.
Seven of us had a wonderful dinner on Saturday night! Or should i say lunch? Through the end of July, the restaurant is offering "Lunch for Dinner". We had a choice of the entire lunch menu and a few special entrees. Everything was delicious, but the pizza was outstanding!!! That crust! That sausage! In an area overrun with pizza, that one had to be the best we've had in years!!!
Coming an hour away and recommend by a friend it was worth it! We sat outside and enjoyed mimosas that included the restaurant’s Prosecco and orange juice on a Wednesday night. We ordered shrimp tostado bites, tomato and mozzarella, marinated bruschetta, fries and crab cake sliders. We ended our meal with in house homemade New York cheesecake. The owner and waitress treated us like family. I can’t wait to come back with family and friends. A must try!
What we liked? The atmosphere. Beautiful, comfortable with evening lighting. Very nice if you are in a quiet mood.
The reason for my mediocre rating? 1) While the food was presented beautifully, it did not taste good (sadly, neither my colleague nor I enjoyed our meals or what we tasted of each others’). 2) Service after we were seated was non-existent. Our server took our order and we never saw him again. Ever. Not even to present the bill. He didn’t offer to provide more water or ask how our meal was. In fact, we had to find another server to ask for our bill. And ‘that’ server processed our payment. While we saw our original server in the restaurant, he never returned to our table after taking our order (someone else delivered our food to the table).
Would I recommend? No. I’d like to say yes but I cannot based on our experience. I hope our experience with the food and service is not typical.
What should you know before you go? I would suggest reading the Google reviews carefully. We chose the restaurant based on the average star rating but did not read any reviews. Perhaps if we had, we would have paused before selecting the restaurant for our meal.
