Closter library is a beautiful single story structure that has served the community for decades.
It has reading rooms, a hall for events and a very helpful staff.
Growing up in Closter, I loved to go to the library after school to knockout my homework and wait until the craze of the afternoon pick-up traffic jam subsided. It is air-conditioned, organized, and has allocated quiet zones. It is also part of the BCCLS network. The librarians take pride in their job, so out of respect for them, I wouldn't suggest you send your kids there if they are rowdy and tend to misbehave as they are not babysitters.
Been a long time Closter resident and this library is like our second home. My kids grew up here, enjoying the toddler programs and most importantly, loving to read. They always have a great selection of new books displayed for easy grabs. Plenty of work space with quiet areas to focus. Most of the librarians are super sweet. Ruth, the Director is very professional and helpful. The children's program list is extensive and usually a hit with our kids. Hopefully they bring in-person programs back soon bc we really them and all the more reasons to visit the library.
