Traditionally, the day of Thanksgiving has passed, but I feel like it is proper time today to be grateful for something special that occurred some very long time ago, in fact Aug-Sep 1997. At that time, I was 10, and I had stayed there with my parents about 3 weeks for the treatment of a congenital heart defect, with a bunch of physicians from my country who joined along as part of their own training scheme (employees of the public hospital AHEPA in Thessaloniki of Greece).
It was funded by Deborah's own "Children of the World" initiative which I've read it operated since 1972. The arrangements & negotiations (including half of the urgent visa request to embassy) were also directed by my highly respectful cardiologist in Greece at that time, Dr. Emmanuel Ntarilis. Also sincere regards to the centre's President at that time, S. Margeotes and his daughter - nice people who seemed to genuinely care wholeheartedly - with whom we happen to share the Greek roots. It was all smooth there by every member of staff and as I am a naturally talented techie & “hacker”, I still remember the favourite arcade game 🕹️ of PacMan at the living room! Plus, I remember how someone brought me to watch Lion King & The Hunchback of Notre Dame on tape on the TV set at my bedroom 🤩 …Only now, at 38 years old, I realised the depth of how precious all this has been. ✨🙏✨
My husband recently spent nearly two weeks at Deborah, and the care was exceptional from start to finish. The SICU team, the 4th-floor staff, and every nurse, doctor, aide, and specialist were efficient, compassionate, and truly went above and beyond.
The front desk staff, security officers, and cafeteria/dietary team were equally incredible — kind, helpful, and always greeting us with warmth when we needed it most.
Thanks to the coordinated, attentive care, my husband recovered smoothly and was discharged home sooner than we expected. We are endlessly grateful. There is no place like Deborah.
I can't say enough about this amazing Hospital! From the minute we walked in the door they all have been nothing but extraordinary in every aspect! The surgeons Doctor Ross my surgeon and Doctor Cane were both extraordinary. The care I received in the ICU after my double bypass and valve replacement was both compassionate and caring at a crucial time in my early recovery. The Nurses Ellamarie, Gabe, Mike and Adam were absolutely remarkable! I'm just so very thankful for their commitment and dedication. Bravo! I highly recommend Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital.
My spouse was patient in Deborah, Lesser 4, end of May into early June. I cannot express the outstanding care he received from various sub-specialties, Dr. P, Hospitalist, Mark, PCA and everyone. The list just goes on and on. Every staff member went out of their way to explain issues, in laymans terms, etc. We were blessed to be at Deborah. Accolades to kind, caring and compassionate staff!
