Peaceful lake view… fall season 2025
Started our hike on the Appalachian Trail from here. Lovely park office with small gift shop, restrooms and some snacks and drinks for sale. Very knowledgeable staff and very friendly/helpful as well.
March 2023. If you think NJ is just the Turnpike, head up to the Northwestern corner of the state. At an elevation of about 1,800 ft you can enjoy views west into Pennsylvania, north into New York state, and east across valleys of New Jersey. Dress warmly, the area of the monument is very open and can be windy.
The property has numerous trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail. In summer the lake is open to swimming at a designated beach area.
One of the best spots for fall foliage, take a scenic route to the monument for best views. The beach was okay, the water was not so clean.
Excellent day for a walk at High Point State Park. Great weather. No crowds just the beauty of nature. Stopped in to tha Park office and had a nice conversation with Ranger Vicki who was very friendly and informative - lots to explore!
