Staffed by Volunteer Fire & EMS personnel around the clock and supplemented by Hopewell Valley Emergency Services Monday through Friday, the Hopewell Fire Department has been here to help since 1911. Stop by on Tuesday nights to meet the members and ask any questions. HFD is always looking for new volunteers from age 14 and up! Great group of local neighbors who drop what they are doing, get up out of bed, leave work and leave their family behind to answer your emergency call.

Their "world war 2" siren goes off and within 5 minutes unmarked pickup trucks with no warning sound other then some that have a little blue light that looks like they got from amazon in the window that you can not hear come FLYING down Greenwood toward the station. I get it, there is an emergency but there are kids playing around the 25mph road. Emergency vehicles have the proper equipment to warn someone they are coming, not personal vehicles nor do I think you have a pass to go 45 in a 25 in a personal vehicle on your way to the station. I really worry about the kids riding bikes and playing, along with my own son when he gets older. I cant be the only parent and if another parent sees this and feels the way I do maybe something can be done because its almost every day that I see this and its honesly so contradicting to be on your way to help someone but at the same time putting others at danger like that.

Unbelievably rude people answering the phones over there. They are not helpful nor pleasant. With so many folk out of work I am sure someone would love the job and be professional with the public. What a shame.
