Our Lady Star of the Sea is a vibrant, architecturally striking parish that serves as a spiritual anchor for Huguenot/South Shore Staten Island. Its modern basilica design welcomes large congregations, supported by a dynamic schedule of liturgical services, educational programs, and outreach. While its contemporary aesthetics may not please traditionalists, the overall warmth, activity, and beauty make it a highly recommended church for worship, community, and faith formation.
I grew up in this church in the late 70s, 80s and 90s, and hadn't been back in quite some time. It was much much larger and absolutely beautiful.
Father Sean is a new priest here and I can attest to how wonderful a priest, minister and person of God he has been to my family He was by are side for the joyous wedding of my daughter this May and through the heartbreak of the passing of my mother recently he came to our home to administer the holy sacraments to my mom to put her at peace Father Sean is just the best words can’t describe how he can really relate to the young and those who need his spiritual guidance love and support

As Pastor appreciation month draws to an end , I would just like to thank Father Chris for Pastoring OLSOS. Thank you Father Chris for your work with the poor. Thank you for coming to pray for my deceased friend Mike who was mentally challenged and poor. If it were not for your love and kindness, Mike would have gone to his grave with out the Blessings of a Catholic Priest. Thank you for acknowledging the life of Micheal even though he never attended our church. You truly saw Micheal as a Child of Christ. Much love and much thanks!!! Please know that we appreciate you as our Pastor!!!
Amazing people. Beautiful church. Help with food pantry and actually offer you several choices from each category. Have actual frozen food, turkey, chicken, beef etc... Call the rectory to schedule appt.
Church was pleasant. 8am weekdays.
Very covid conscious. Must wear a mask, pews. Are labeled at 6 ft intervals, even the holy water is kept in a holder so you take what you need. You don't have to touch the same bowl other have. Offer communion, but not the blood of Christ, which is appropriate. Small church where you get to know one another.
