I have been to this restaurant once before and had a very nice experience. The gift shop is always a wonderful experience because they always have wonderful things in there.
However today I ordered a tuna fish sandwich to go on sourdough bread. I happened to sit in the chair facing the woman making my sandwich. I watched her pull two pieces of bread out of a large bag that said Jewish rye bread. I then saw her cut a tomato so I asked if she was making the tuna fish sandwich I ordered. She said 'yes'. I told her I asked for sourdough and she said "this is sourdough". I told her I saw her pull it out of the rye bread bag and said "my apologies". I brought the sandwich home and ate it a couple of hours later only to find it was indeed on rye bread. There is a distinct difference in appearance and taste between the two breads and I eat sourdough all the time - which is why I ordered it. Fortunately, I do not have a rye bread allergy or sensitivity or else it would've been a big deal.
I am posting this in the hopes that, for whatever reason she did not tell me the truth, she rethinks what she did and doesn't do it again. A simple "I'm sorry I grabbed the wrong bread" would have sufficed but to go ahead and deliberately give me the wrong bread I thought was a bit strange and unnecessary.
What a delightful place! Ambiance is beautiful where you get to hear running waterfalls while eating. You can eat indoors or outdoors, very quaint. Service was great! Coffee was amazing. Breakfast menu is until 11:30am and then you have the lunch menu until closing. Menu is a little limited, but food is delicious and fresh..
This was an unexpected treat to stop and have lunch after my mother's dental appointment. There is a restraunt with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is located in a beautiful garden with lots of flowers, wind chimes and waterfalls. There is fresh organic food and juices served daily. I ordered a delicous grilled cheese sandwich with fried peaches. There is also a very "zen" store selling jewelry, crystals, etc in front of the garden. I will return many times!
Update as of 5/11/2025
At out last visit when i made this post. We inquired about Mothers Day and if they are taking reservations. The lady that helped us had an accent and told us that they are not taking reservations for Mothers Day and just to come the day of. So my son called in the morning to inquire if it's busy or if they have availability as the woman had suggested. The woman that answered was abrupt and rude. When my son asked, she very rudely just said "we are reservations only and you have to come in tomorrow ". Then hung up on him right after. Very disappointing since we were told the complete opposite. Definitely will be hesitant about giving them my business again in the future.
I've been to the Tulip Tree Cafe a few times and each time it's been a wonderful experience. The food is delicious. I had the Avocado Toast. My son had a BLT. The ingredients were fresh and perfect temperature. My son loved that they put the mayo on the side automatically, without him having to ask (he forgot to anyway), so he could control how much was put on his BLT. I'm happy about the amount of Avocado that was on each piece of toast. Sometimes I only get a couple pieces per toast elsewhere. Portion size was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee was sooo good. Atmosphere is delightful and warm. The shop next to it is also wonderful and fun to walk around.
Awesome little cafe! It's co-located within a garden center and it's easy to miss if you're driving by.
The patio in back has some beautiful plantings, mature trees,
a gazebo, and a fountain to create a wonderful little oasis.
There are eight or ten tables spread around the patio area for a very eclectic feeling. In season, the flowers of the garden center make it very serene.
Portions were more than fair for the price and packed with flavor! We were there for lunch. Salmon burgers were huge. Grilled cheese with the onions and tomato was very flavorful. Most of the lunch items were about $15 including a choice of one side.
If you're looking for a great place that spirits you away, this is the right spot.
In the summer they also have a prix fixe menu for dinner on Fridays (reservations required). It's much pricier for the dinner but it's a limited number of seats and they have live music. The planned menu sounded really good. I believe they only do dinner on Fridays, but I'm not 100% certain.
