Weird review from “G”this place was just getting started and steadily improved the location each month. If you visited while they were open, you would have seen this yourself and been greeted with the kindest service possible along with the aromas of the fantastic (and shockingly affordable) food. Saying it doesn’t fit into the area because of a truck in the lot is a complete joke when there is massive trucking depot with a great BBQ stand one minute down the road! Expecting a restaurant to open with some huge renovation budget is an unnecessary barrier of entry when they could be serving food that speaks for itself and given a chance to grow. That being said, happy to see some activity on the reviews and wishing Village Dhaba the best in re-opening! Please don’t leave the area if this particular location falls through, you brought some much needed spice to the local food options!
As a counterpoint to "G"'s recent review that was posted while the restaurant while closed, I thought I'd offer my insight. Ages ago when Village Dhaba was about to open, myself and my partner stopped in for some food.
The owners were kind and let us know a lot of the menu was still not available as it seemed we had mistakenly stopped in before their official open date. They let us know what was available kindly, we ordered our food, took it home to eat (we had that intention from the start but I believe they were lacking seating and service at the time due to the pre-open condition).
The food was fantastic, well-made, and delicious; In fact, it was so good that *routinely* myself and my partner have checked on Village Dhaba's google maps / yelp pages and facebook to see if they were open again yet.
We cannot wait for the eventual re-opening, we feel bad and sympathize with the owners struggles with the bureaucracy of the town holding them up, and are disappointed that people like "G" are leaving these awful reviews that cast a bad light on the restaurant before it is even officially open. Not to mention "doesn't fit in with our communities eateries" is the loudest dogwhistle I've heard all week.
To the owners I say this: My partner and I cannot wait. Weeks and months go by and routinely we keep saying to ourselves "Wonder if Village Dhaba is open yet", because this area is in dire need of some broader options in food tastes and cultures. Thank you for trying your hardest to bring that taste to our town, we wish you the best!
I discovered The Village Dhaba Restaurant while on a road trip, and it was such a great find! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The food was absolutely delicious — flavorful, fresh, and truly satisfying. It felt like a hidden gem on the highway. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing by or even planning a visit. Will definitely stop here again.
Excellent home cooked Pakistani and North Indian food. Try Butter chicken, chicken tikka, lamb chops, chicken Korma curry. They have a tandoor so Naan breads and chicken tikkas are great tasting authentic and all food is fresh. Vegetarian entrees are also very good. Biryani’s (rice with chicken or goat) are very good. Goat curry’s also very good.
Order ahead by phone as some entrees need time to prep to be authentic and tasteful. We ordered ahead and it was ready waiting for us when we arrived. It’s a better take-out place but have some seating if you prefer to eat in.
My food was balanced and mild on the spice so I will mention the spice level next time as we like Pakistani food to be spiced with ginger/garlic and spice. Mention spice level if you like it spicy or else it’s perfectly balanced and mild.
I’m glad this Pakistani/south Asian place opened up close to us on RT 31. Owners are very friendly and welcoming. The lady on the front desk is very sweet and chef owner very friendly.
Portions are thankfully good size good enough for two people for us three of us was good. And prices are very reasonable thankfully in today’s market something is reasonable and good quality plus quantity.
Today, we discovered this newly opened halal restaurant and ordered the seekh kebabs, which were cooked well and full of flavor. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. ( 10$ for the platter including 4 kebabs and rice ). What really made our experience stand out was the exceptional service. The woman at the counter was super kind and friendly.
