Community Heroes,
Thank you to the team of people who helped cut a stuck costume jewelry ring off of my finger with patience, gentleness, and compassion. After trying soap, vaseline, ice water, and dental floss to no avail, I drove to the Fire station on a rainy afternoon embarrassed and in a great deal of pain from the swelling. Within five minutes, I walked out pain free and humbled by the their kindness and reassurance. I offered to treat them to a pizza lunch but the quiet response was, “ No thanks. You don’t have to because it’s what we do.”
I’m stubborn so I returned with bakery treats as a small token of my appreciation.
