I do love German food! I had the Jager SchnitzelI, the sauce with mushrooms and onions was made nicely, along with the red cabbage. The staff and the environment were welcoming, and gave the warm family feeling that we all love.. Furthermore my husband had the porterhouse steak which is few and in-between to find in regular local places. I must say it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Gus's food is definitely worth eating again. Kudos to a place that has been around since 1934! 👏
I visited this family owned authentic German restaurant right after visiting Storm King Art Center on a Saturday afternoon. I had a very tasty lunch that made me super happy and full. I met the owner, her name is Lauren and the waitress Debbie. They both were super friendly and nice.
Very good german food. I've driven by many times while in the area and finally stopped in for lunch. I ordered schnitzel and a side of potato pancake. The schnitzel was thin and cripy and was the percfect size for lunch. They substituted the side for me with spatzle, which were great, the red cabbage was also very good. The potato pancake was large and was also nice and crispy. I will definetly be back again.
Excellent old school German/American restaurant/tavern. The food and service were both fantastic. They serve a smaller menu for lunch. They have Spaten and Franziskaner Hefeweizen on tap. I recommend the Schnitzel, the Sauerbraten, and the strudel. They have parking off street.
