My son and I visited during Thanksgiving weekend. Nice gentleman helped us determine the best trail to take. Encouraged us to check out the stuffed animal display downstairs. All in all, very helpful, kind, great interaction and experience. Bonus: his trail recommendation (Millbrook Ridge) was terrific as it provided incredible views.

I am starting with making some fun of it. In the front of the building, I read "it's free". I have never seen a paid visitors center, this one was "free". But anyway, the Visitors Center was attractively designed, elegant and clean. All are very welcome.

I only got to do the Nature trail which was pretty basic, in my opinion. I feel like more could be done with the place. It was great to be in the Mohonk area, however and I know there is lots more to see and do at the preserve, I just never got to it.

Amazing hike! From the visitor center to the top of the tower is about 2.5hrs. Roundtrip with some breaks to rest took us a little 8.5miles and 4hrs and 20mins.

    It’s worth it!!!
The first bit past the visitor center. Is straight up hill over rocks. Very steep and make sure you have proper shoes for this!
Once at the top the main road is pretty flat with some up hill portions but nothing like the beginning.

    Enjoy!!

Great point to start one of many hikes in this wonderful nature reserve. You can purchase hiking or climbing passes here. Helpful staff will be happy to advise regarding either. Maps and other merchandise are also available. In addition there is a special kids corner (lower level) multiple preserved stuffed animals, a scaled topographical model of the area and a butterfly garden. Restrooms on site and there are multiple (not too big) parking lots.
