Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts

LIHSA is truly an incredible school, filled with the most supportive and knowledgeable staff, administrators, and students! My experience so far has been nothing but amazing, and I am so grateful to be surrounded by people that love the arts just as much as I do every day. Not only has LIHSA helped me improve immensely as a dancer, but they have also helped me to grow as a person as well. My classmates at LIHSA are both extremely talented dancers, as well as kindhearted humans, who have turned into family. I know I made the right decision when choosing to come here.

As a parent of a student at the Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA), I can confidently say this school is a game-changer. From the moment I first visited, I was absolutely blown away. Walking through the halls felt like stepping into a real-life version of the 80s TV show, FAME. The energy and creativity in the building are incredible. I saw dancers rehearsing, fine arts students painting video game cabinets designed by the scenic design class, TV production students filming, and live music flowing through the hallways. It’s an inspiring environment unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.

LIHSA is truly a hidden gem for students passionate about the arts. My child has had the opportunity to immerse themselves in their craft, exploring areas like fine art, TV and film production, and music while also gaining practical skills like branding and money management to prepare for their future. The level of instruction and mentorship is unmatched, and the progress my child has made in their confidence, skills, and creativity has been remarkable.

What makes LIHSA even more special is the sense of community it provides. It’s not just a school; it’s a safe haven where students feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are. For kids who might not thrive in a traditional school setting, this environment is transformative.

Attending LIHSA has also positioned my child for success after high school. The specialized training and real-world experience they’ve gained have given him a huge advantage, not just creatively but academically as well. I know they’ll be entering college fully prepared to pursue their dreams.

I highly recommend this school. I cannot express how LIHSA changed my child’s life. LIHSA provides many opportunities for their students. They create an environment that is supportive and inclusive . They go above and beyond in assuring that they are ready for the next steps in a field that is difficult for many. They continue to be involved even after the student graduates .
