Northstar Counseling is exceptional. Their team provides such compassionate, insightful care and creates a welcoming environment for every client who walks through their doors. You can tell they’re dedicated to helping people heal and grow. We’re so lucky to have Northstar Counseling in our community. Highly recommend them for anyone seeking genuine, quality therapy.
Their staff treats you like a number, devoid of any human decency. Listen, I can't speak to the quality or effectiveness of their Healthcare personnel, but their STAFF in particular are condescending, inconsiderate, and lack compassion. While their website CLEARLY indicates they are "accepting new patients", I was met on the phone by a terse representative who seemed annoyed by my questions about how to find help, after she notified me that NONE of the practitioners practicing EMDR are accepting new patients. Lol. Someone else on here commented thst the staff are "bullies", and I have to agree. Without any feeling, the phone receptionist told me the wait list would "honestly take months". She didn't say how they'd be in touch if I ever got OFF the waitlist, and there was no confirmation I was ever put ON it. She didn't say, "unfortunately, it'll take months", or "I'm so sorry, it takes a very long time to be seen". Nope. Just..."it takes months". I've never encountered such an uncaring medical receptionist before in my life. You're supposed to be dealing with trauma patients, and patients with other mental health issues, and this is how you act? This was only ONE interaction with their staff; the others have also been careless. I took myself elsewhere and easily found a better, much more caring, company to work with. They can say whatever they want in response to this, but I was very, very upset and lost interest in this organization due to their unprofessional and hateful staff.
l am writing this review both as an appreciation commentary as well as for someone looking for a counselor. l have been seeing Michael Mclarnon for around 6 months and he has been revelatory for me. His greatest traits as a therapist include creating a very trusting and non-judgmental environment, which has allowed me to open up and really deal with my issues. For those who have difficulty with that aspect of therapy, as l have, his methods have been great. Each week is a nurturing yet clear minded session where there are pragmatic actions combined with a great and safe place for an emotional outlet. l am writing this with an eye towards a reader who may be hesitant, but wants to get help.
l am updating this review because l have been inspired by my personal growth and the far improved communication methods l am now using with my loved ones and friends. l feel far more comfortable in my own skin and am beyond glad to have had him help me through some very challenging times.
