A hidden gem to discover! We had the most amazing time discovering the house on a guided tour. The best tour I had visiting a historic house in the US. The place itself is linked to really interesting events in the country history but also filled with never seen before artefacts from that time period. Our guide all dressed up in a historic costume was so informative and pedagogic answering our questions. Very good story teller! Everyone there was lovely too. Thank you so much

We came after hours just to enjoy the surroundings. Garden and lawn were summer perfect. The structures look to be in maintenance emergency; tarps nailed with strips to the roofing, wood in need of paint or replacement. 2024 has been a very rainy and humid year, and it shows here.

One tree pictured here might be as old as the house. Amazing.

I visited the gardens it was 9/21/23 so I wasn’t expecting much. I was actually surprised to see a few flowers. They apologized, because apparently the Garden’s were under construction. The house is only open on Fri Sat Sun. I’m sure the gardens are lovely in the spring and summer.

A wonderful hidden gem. Early Americana home circa 1743 & spectacular English garden by Gertruide Jekyll a early 20th century British horticulturist.

The man giving the tour was really nice and had a great personality. He had a great sense of humor. Also, the garden was amazing. A picture perfect opportunity.
