Had not been here in quite awhile and so glad I visited today. Beautiful weather and barely any bugs 🪳. The lower area looked recently mowed and the rest rooms had just been cleaned this day. Lots of available parking as well.
Highlight of my visit today was getting close to the resident Great Egret. I got within 8-10 feet and took some pics and videos. Walked back towards the front side of the pond, took a last look back at it and it flew right towards me. Close enough to touch as it landed just two feet from me!
If you plan to spend some time here take the dog(s), take your bike, take the kids, take a hike & take some photos.
Beautiful park. My hubby and I had a nice walk Saturday afternoon, we really enjoyed the peacefulness!!
After Labor Day you don't have to pay to reserve a Pavillion for your event (birthday party, cook out, or plain get together). As a result, it's "first come-first served."
The 1st Pavillion is the best: near the little lake, parking lot, playground & the CLEAN bathroom building.
The fireplace was a God send because it was a cold October morning. We got there when the park opened, 8am, and we built a fire to keep us keep warm. We were warm during set up & during our event. The fire added a nice touch (no children at our event-all were safe).
We were sure to pour water on the waning flames before we left.
A good time was had by all!
If you're looking for a picturesque lunch spot surrounded by breathtaking nature, you don't want to miss this park! I visit it every day for lunch and the stunning views never cease to amaze me.
Osbornedale State Park is a hidden gem in Connecticut. I have been coming here for many years.
Autumn is an amazing time visit to look at the foliage surrounding the lake.
It is a peaceful park with picnic tables and ample parking in several spots. The park is kept very clean too.
