Fun for one trip but would not do again. Not worth the money.
Before you plan your trip, understand that one ticket for a Saturday evening is going to whack you $180. The website says $130 but there are 23% of administrative fees and taxes.
I took an evening cruise in October with 5 of my friends from Hoboken. Luckily Hoboken has a ton of parking garages in the area, so it was easy to get to. They ask you to show up at 6:15 since boarding starts at 6:30 and the boat is expected to leave at 7. It was 7:15 and there was still a line of people waiting to board the boat. We didn't actually leave the dock until 7:30. Dining area is very nice and clean. The light above us flickered the entire trip unfortunately. I wish they had checked that before we left, but oh well. Bathrooms were not clean. One of the toilets was clogged in the women's room. It smells horrible. The outside decks of the boat were nice. A decent amount of seating. The views are phenomenal, of course.
Food: It's a shame that all drinks (besides water, coffee, and tea) aren't free. For the hefty price that I paid for this 3-hour cruise, I should at least be able to get a soda or iced tea. Your table has a server to get you drinks, which is very nice. I'm not a drinker, but my friends said the drinks we're quite strong. They were $14 each. The buffet is underwhelming. All the food is your standard buffet food: salad, bread, pasta, potatoes, vegetables, one chicken dish, one beef dish, and one fish dish. And dessert is a tiny slice of cake. There's no rhyme or reason to how people start getting their food. I think each table was supposed to be told when to go to the buffet, but people just started to get on the buffet line at their own free will. The cooks and servers couldn't keep up with the demand. We all waited around for 5-10 minutes for the buffet trays to be replenished. (Again, I cannot stress this enough. If I'm paying $180 for this experience, honestly it should be a menu and waiter service. Or at least more variety. And quicker turnarounds.) I will say that all the food was good though. I enjoyed everything I ate. The dessert area was also a bit of a chaotic cluster because they put it right next to the dance floor. It was impossible to get a coffee without getting bumped into and spilling it. The cake was delicious though!
Activities: There is a DJ on the top floor of the boat and the music plays throughout all the floors via speakers. Good music selection. Personally I wish the music was quieter on the floors that didn't have the DJ so that I could have conversations with my friends. But I understand the cruise is supposed to be a 3-hour party, so I won't hold that against them. The good news is that if you want some quiet, you can just go outside on the boat. The DJ also announces when the boat is passing major landmarks, like the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. I absolutely love NYC and the skyline, so this was truly what I was taking the cruise for. I hung outside for a majority of the trip taking photos and soaking in the views. You get very close to Lady Liberty. Also towards the beginning of the trip, a photographer goes around taking photos of your table, you and your partner, etc. Later in the evening, someone comes around with a box full of framed photos that you can buy for $25 each. I'm a sucker for a photo souvenir so I bought two. I appreciated this.
TL;DR: Boat was nice and clean overall. Food tasted good but was super delayed in serving everyone. Soft drinks aren't free. Views were phenomenal. Trip is way too expensive (even with a Groupon) to do it more than once in a lifetime.
The cruise was very enjoyable! There was a great DJ, plenty of fruit, desserts, a main course, salad, and hot beverages. Drinks, however, had to be purchased separately only coffee , water ,and tea were free. There was also an automatic 20% gratuity added, but overall it was worth it.
We sailed from Hoboken, and everyone was having a wonderful time dancing and enjoying themselves. The food selection was good: they served beef, baked chicken, fish, eggplant stuffed with cheese, and pasta. The staff was friendly, although our waiter could have been a bit more attentive. The people we sat near were very pleasant and made the evening even better.
Overall, it was an amazing trip and a great experience. I had so much fun and would highly recommend it!
Had a great time! Food was amazing! Really a treat! Just wish it was longer! The party had just started when we docked.
My wife and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary on the boat and we had a wonderful time. The service, atmosphere, ride, food, facilities on the boat and DJ were excellent. It was a lovely experience.
Everything amazing @ Cornucopia..
