I had a gift certificate to eat at this fine establishment and my only regret was how long I waited to eat here.

I started off with the fried calamari and it was delectable and fried to perfection. Not greasy at all and had the hot sauce which wasn’t (to me) overly spicy.

For mains I chose half portion of the gnocchi in tomato sauce and the meat tortellini in a white cream sauce with prosciutto. Both pastas were outstanding. The gnocchi were out of this world. The sauce on the tortellini my jaw dropped with each bite. It was one of the best things my taste buds ever tasted. I cannot wait to return to eat that again! The sauce with the saltiness of the prosciutto made it perfection. Wasn’t too creamy it was just fantastic!

To end the meal I had a crème brûlée. While not the best one I’ve had, it was an adequate end to an otherwise perfect meal. Not that I’m a crème brûlée snob but felt the burnt sugar on top could’ve been firmer or rather it broke too easily when tapping with my spoon and the custard was standard. I was really hoping to see a zabaglione perhaps in the future added if I were able to wave a wand…?

Voted and winner of the Best of Bergen 2023, my partner, our friends and I came as first-timers to this establishment located on W. Crescent Ave. in Allendale for dinner yesterday. Reservations were easily booked through Open Table. Once a residential home, Savini has transformed into an upscale solid Italian restaurant well-known for their fresh steak and chicken dishes. Upon arrival, one is greeted by valet staff who parked our vehicles. Upon entering the foyer, we were further greeted by the host and shown to our linen-covered table. A 2-page menu offered classic Northern Italian and American cuisine, with a variety of options available as well as today’s special. As an appetizer, we decided on the beef & lentil soup, Sicilian rice ball with filet mignon tips, and Caprese salad. For the main meal, we chose Chicken Vino Bianco Sautéed with Artichokes Hearts, Asparagus, and Shitake Mushrooms in a White Wine Sauce, Veal Forestiere Sautéed with Portobello, Shitake, and Champignon Mushrooms in a Sherry Wine Demi-Glace Sauce, Chicken Marsala, Filet Mignon, and Jumbo Shrimps served over spaghetti instead of linguine. Some of us even saved room for dessert and got crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. Complimentary, fresh, warm bread started our meal. All dishes were beautifully served and cooked to perfection. The prices were not cheap, but we got value for our money. The servers were friendly and informative. The host went around to the table, making sure it was to our liking. While we were there, several occasions were being celebrated where we could recommend this place.

Went here for the first time and all we can say is Wow! Upon entering, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere which was elegant and tastefully decorated. The service was stellar from the moment we made the reservation with their personal contact before our dinner and continued throughout our entire visit. Our waiter Thomas was warm, personable and funny and made us feel right at home. Now to the food, the menu is large and varied with options available for all types of discerning palates. The food came out quickly and was piping hot and and we loved every single dish. From the Orange Roughy special, to the risotto, gnocchi, shrimp Savini, to the desserts - everything was exceptional. Savinis is now one of our go to high end Italian restaurants. If you haven't been here yet, you really need to give it a try, you will not be disappointed!
