John was great to work with. We had a great experience. He really loves music and musicians and goes out of his way to make you sound the best you possibly can. Have your music ready and he will help you make it sound even better!! The equipment is all top notch, the place is immaculate and his board is state of the art. Highly highly recommend!!
John Allen is amazing! A kind soul, and a very talented producer and engineer with a sharp ear. Very knowledgeable: a true master. I loved my (first) experience at Studio 609. The gear is top of the line, and the environment is very comfortable and conducive to a no pressure recording. John brought each of my songs to life in ways I never dreamed imaginable. He can handle any task/project so don't hesitate to book this studio. I'm grateful to have met and worked with him.
I have been recording at Studio 609 for many years, as a player, leader, arranger, and composer. Throughout those years I have worked with John Allen, engineer, producer, musician, and proprietor.
John continues to keep current with the latest in software, equipment, and trends. He has become a true master of his domain. He has recorded every genre imaginable - jazz, rock, R&B, rap, gospel, folk, classical, new age, spoken word - even a full symphony orchestra. The studio is extremely comfortable and conducive to creativity. With dedicated vocal, drum, and solo rooms, surrounding the “big” room, there is absolutely no bleed between tracks. The “big” room has held an 18 piece big band as well as a full choir and particularly warm for a string section. In addition, the Yamaha grand piano is maintained beautifully and always perfectly tempered. With multiple guitars, a Hammond organ, a large variety of percussion and exotic instruments, the possibilities have no end. The elevated control room and adjoining lounge provide a a comfortable venue to watch John perform his magic at the controls. He has a wonderful ability to interpret the intentions of the musician. His ear is as fine as any engineer or producer with whom I have worked over the past 45+ years. Studio 609 - I love this place.
Studio 609 is outfitted with the best of the best in terms of software and outboard gear. It is up to date and can handle anything you can dream of. What's more important, the depth of knowledge and experience of owner John Allen ranks with the very best available anywhere. This studio can accommodate a symphony orchestra or a voiceover as the need arises, the physical dimensions of the space assure that capability. Need a Hammond B3? Grand piano? Sophisticated digital editing? It's all here. I had a string quartet recorded there with impressive results. Simply put, you have at your fingertips comprehensive expertise and facility. John is not just an excellent engineer, but an accomplished musician with a broad network of talented players at your disposal. Simply the best!
I've recorded here a few times and love the combination of high tech, and down home warmth of this studio. The owner, John Allen is a great guy who knows his craft very well. He is a true pro with quite a background in the business. His musical instincts are right on the money. He's a very good drummer, and Hammond organ player. The end result is always a wonderful recording.
