I have been working out with John Swertfager as my personal trainer at Apex Fitness for a few years now, and he has been amazing. John has helped me get significantly stronger and has played a huge role in correcting long-standing hip and knee pain. He is extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, and conscientious, and I always feel safe and well cared for during my workouts.
Apex Fitness is always clean, well maintained, and welcoming. Everyone there is friendly and supportive, and the overall environment feels positive and encouraging. If you are middle-aged or older and looking to get fit, you will feel comfortable and well taken care of here—but truly, people of all ages and fitness levels do great at Apex.
John and Skaz do so much for the community, and you can genuinely feel their love for our town. It’s a wonderful place to be with a great vibe all around.
The whole team at Apex is very well trained and welcoming. The environment is clean and offers many types of equipment and resources. I have been training with Mary for the past 8 months and she is far and away the best personal trainer I’ve had. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the body and fitness, provides challenging exercises targeted to my goals and above all else is a great person. Mary is the unique combination of part cheerleader, part coach and part friend. She has taken my fitness level up several notches and I can feel a difference in my mobility, stability and flexibility.
Mary. Full stop. Mic drop. End of the discussion.
Mary is the best trainer in the land, and trust me, I've had many.
Why is Mary so good, you ask? Many trainers memorize 100 exercises and then think they're doing you a favor by rotating them for any given workout: hit body part A Monday....hit part B on Thursday....let's do C and D next week and then repeat thereafter. That's not why I need a trainer. I need a "health skills coach" like Mary to STOP me and say, "hey Michael, let's try it THIS way..." as she moves my back in place, or my shoulders down, or my whatever body part into the RIGHT spot. Mary is a technician. But is that ALL? No. Package technical expertise with human empathy and care, and you get Mary. Oh, did I mention the constant sunny attitude? Again...all roads lead to Mary. If you just want a trainer who pushes, pushes, pushes...oh wait, that can be Mary too...and a whole lot more.
Mary has been training me for 2 years. She is knowledgeable, dedicated and fun. She has a wonderful understanding of the woman’s body and is really helping me through hormonal changes and how it affects workouts. She stays ahead of the curve by attending seminars and development classes so that she continues to grow as a trainer. She is an absolute gem and I absolutely adore my time with her, even though I might be sore the next day lol
My experience with Apex Gym has been uplifting and positive. As a cancer survivor with multiple co-morbidities, I was cautious about starting personal training as it was my first experience. Working with Mary Smith has been incredibly rewarding and also challenging. She is professional, passionate about her work, concerned about my health goal and confident in my ability. I am so impressed with her level of expertise and I feel safe in her care. Mary is the best! Thank you Apex Gym.
