I contacted the business via Instagram messenger bc they do not have a website or a professional way to communicate with clients. Initially I tried the email provided but was redirected to IG. The owner was busy so she responded only in late evenings. I specifically asked for a long layered haircut that would work with my naturally curly hair and if I wanted to use a curling or flat iron. I also shred my last experience with my layers being cut into “choppy steps”. I wanted a stylist who would be able to create a blended layered cut. I mentioned I am a hairstylist but not currently working as one for personal reasons. At first my stylist asked me to tilt my head pretty far down. Now a slight tilt is best so you don’t end up with a much shorter layer on the bottom and longer on top— this is what I ended up with . At first it looked like she was creating layers going with the natural head shape to create soft, blended layers vs picking up a top section and cutting horizontally which creates choppy layers. Then she got to my sides and changed the direction of the cut by cutting my sides horizontally which leave a hole and a choppy look. No blending whatsoever. Then she felt the need to “thin” my ends a little using a razor . I was hoping it would help my layers blend better so I let her. Nope. My hair is not course enough for this technique. When she blew out my hair I could tell it was not the best work. She curled it old -school style, which I fixed when I got home. I let it be bc I had a busy week ahead and don’t wash my hair every day. The pictures below will show you just how awful this cut is. It’s choppy, uneven, not at all blended and just a hot mess. I reached out to the owner earlier this week via IG to let her know, hoping for a refund as I don’t want to go back to have them screw it up more. She never responded and had been active on the app twice from my message to her. My observation is that this place first off, needs a some sort of signage as it looked very ghetto from the outside. I had to call to make sure I was in the correct location. I get they recently changed their name but a plain piece of paper with your name and number would make a difference. Second, some of the staff and stylists were not presentable. They didn’t have up to date hairstyles or professional clothes. I don’t know if they use a licensed shampoo person as is required by NYS. It was not relaxing as the chairs are too low and hurt my neck. The “massage “ was not great either, nothing to talk about . The owner should be providing monthly education and require their stylists to continue to learn updated techniques and skills to improve their knowledge and understanding of what desired by clients. It seems that the stylist who had done my hair has been in the profession for over 20 years but never kept up or brushed up on her skills especially cutting. Education is so important. I left a good tip bc I know how hard the job is, not because I liked my service.

1st time there today for a haircut, color, with some foils, and blowout. Erika did my hair and she did it perfect. She explained everything clear to me too. Was referred by a friend of mine cause I been trying to find a place not too far from my home. Closer now and I'm staying. Very happy with my hair. Thank you Erika!

Brenda is an outstanding hairdresser and a wonderful person. She is amazing with color, and did an awesome job giving my mother the pampering she deserves with a new cut and beautiful, Soft blonde color with high and low lights. I highly recommend Changes Salon.

Love love love this place!! Myself, my mom, and my sister all get our hair done here and ever since, we have gone no where else. These ladies make you feel beautiful and then go above and beyond to make your hair even more gorgeous. I used to have some serious damage from constantly curling and straightening my hair, and over the past 5 years, Brenda has worked to keep my hair beautiful and healthy.
