This is a small but mighty neighborhood gem whose combination of coffee, food, and wares really embodies the spirit of a general store. We stopped in for breakfast and had a blast exploring the holiday-themed sundries around the store (we ended up buying an ornament and a gorgeous sweater. Where else could you buy such things with breakfast?!). I don't know who's in charge of stocking the store but judging from how well curated these goods were, it's clear they know what they're doing. There were lots of local goods, like beers, wines, and maple syrups, and then some fineries like the Momofuku sauce line, luxury bath goods, and Anthropologie clothes.

For a small shop, the menu was also unexpectedly robust. Along with your usual lineup of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and wraps, there were a few unusual ones that piqued our interest. The whole hot dog menu, for instance, makes for a fun and curious read. Want to try the Canadog? It comes with maple syrup, peanut butter, and bacon. Or how about the L.A. Japadog, with teriyaki sauce, nori, and mayo? We weren't brave enough to try, but I'm left haunted by what could have been.

Our own sandwich choices were fantastic. Everything is made to order, so it took a few minutes, but we certainly weren't short of things to see while waiting. There are two small two-seating tables in the shop, and we were lucky enough to snag the table with the giant bevy of hot sauces (see picture).

The people behind the counter are kind, friendly, and warm. There was a steady stream of customers during our visit, and it seemed like many of them were neighborhood folks coming in for their breakfast and snacks to go. All the interactions we overheard gave off small-town, Gilmore Girls vibes, and we were glad to be part of it for a short while.

This is a fantastic little shop-and-cafe combo, definitely worth dropping in if you're in the area.

Great sandwiches, snacks, treats, and coffee! Cute and cozy gift shop for last minute gifts - or if you're in need of some self indulgence (the sweaters and socks are the best!)

The most charming small-town General store! It has a mix of local curated goods like clothing and jewelry and ornaments but also local food brands. The staff were so friendly even when we accidentally showed up after they’d closed. For any Midwest transplants, they have sport peppers for a good Chicago dog! Haven’t been able to find those anywhere! Well worth a visit :)

Absolutely! Here’s a warm, detailed, and glowing review you could post on Google, Yelp, or anywhere else:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem That Has Everything – and Then Some!

Every once in a while, you stumble upon a place that feels like it’s been plucked from a storybook—warm, welcoming, a little quirky, and filled with surprises around every corner. This general store is exactly that. More than just a pit stop or a place to grab a quick bite, it’s a little haven of joy, comfort, and small-town magic.

Let’s start with the sandwiches: out of this world. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic turkey and Swiss or something more inventive with homemade pesto or roasted veggies, every bite feels like it was made with love and care. The ingredients are always fresh, the bread is soft and hearty, and the flavor combinations somehow manage to be both nostalgic and exciting at the same time. You can tell whoever’s in the kitchen actually cares about the food—this isn’t your average deli counter. It’s comfort food elevated.

But the magic doesn’t stop at the food. Walk a few feet in any direction, and you’ll find yourself wandering through a delightful maze of trinkets, gifts, and treasures. There are charming little tchotchkes that will make you smile, locally made spa products (we’re talking luxurious lotions, bath salts, and candles that smell divine), and shelves of items you didn’t know you needed until you saw them—and now can’t live without.

It’s one of those rare places where you can pick up an artisan cheese for dinner, a handmade greeting card for a friend, a jar of local honey, a puzzle for the kids, a quirky magnet for your fridge, and maybe a nourishing body scrub for yourself—all in one visit. And somehow, it’s not overwhelming—it’s just delightful.

The staff are kind, patient, and full of good recommendations. They greet you like a neighbor, remember your order if you’re a regular, and seem genuinely proud of the space they’ve created. And they should be.

Whether you’re a local, a weekend visitor, or just someone passing through, do yourself a favor and stop in. Have a sandwich. Browse a bit. Breathe in the good vibes. You’ll walk out with your belly full, your hands probably carrying a few unexpected treasures, and your heart just a little lighter.

This place is a reminder that sometimes the best things in life are found in the most unassuming spots. What a gift to have it here.
