I met Debi during a hospital tour, and my partner and I decided to hire her after learning she was a doula. While she is a nice woman, her dual role as a hospital employee and our doula created a serious conflict of interest that worked against us. I constantly received conflicting advice: Debi leaned toward holistic Hypnobirthing methods, while the hospital strongly pushed medical interventions. This left me confused, especially when I thought I was in labor early and the hospital wanted to induce, while Debi implied I should wait. Later, when my baby went overdue, my midwife (whom Debi recommended) insisted on induction, while Debi again leaned the opposite way.

When I went into labor on my birthday, I asked Debi to come advocate for me, but she said that advocacy is not a doula’s role—even though research shows that’s one of the main reasons families hire doulas. She was working and unavailable, her backup couldn’t come either, and I labored for hours without physical support for the Hypnobirthing and comfort techniques we had learned. Eventually, the pain was too much, and I requested an epidural. Only after her shift ended did Debi arrive, but by then the hospital recommended a C-section due to supposed distress. My baby was born perfectly healthy, and I later learned the C-section wasn’t necessary.

To be clear, not all of this was Debi’s fault, but her position at the hospital made it impossible for her to support us effectively. It felt misleading that she recruited us during the hospital tour, yet could not actually fulfill her role there. I paid $2,500 (after a discount) and essentially received only a few hours of postpartum help, which, while nice, did not justify the lack of support during labor.

Adding to the disappointment, she never shared our birth photo though she posted others, which made me feel unseen as our story didn’t fit the “successful natural birth” narrative she promotes. My partner also noticed that when she discussed other clients who had C-sections, she often implied it was their fault. When I later shared my grievances, she dismissed them and unfollowed me on social media.

I added photos of the text where she states that doulas do not advocate (advocate as in voice my wishes, help me understand medical words, ask clarifying questions to doctors on day of labor). No one was there the 12 hours i was laboring. Additionally added the general google images of what a doula does… i also called DONA and a few other companies to confirm and doulas do indeed advocate. She then said her contracts say she don’t which is something i missed. So be warned she will not say a word to any medical professional she will only speak to you.

I paid her in full for being a doula. It was during covid, and the hospital didn’t allow for doulas.

I ended up needed a planned c section because my baby was breech, so my birth didn’t go according to plan. She told me it’s because babies who end up breech are usually from unresolved emotions from the mother or something like that.

I never received refund after paying in full, and was sent a bill breaking down every phone call and email to justify the payment made for services never received.

I found this class to be invaluable for educating me about the childbirth experience. Initially I was somewhat skeptical about the “hypnobirthing” concept but Debi was a consummate professional and helped prepare me for my daughter’s birth thoroughly, no matter what the experience may bring. I thoroughly recommend to every expectant Mama. Thank you ❤️❤️

The class was a wonderful experience. It changed my outlook on child birth, helped me feel connected to my pregnancy and inserted positivity in my life and appreciate what a special journey motherhood is. It helped my partner and I connect more as well. Debbi is a wonderful person and also an experienced doula so she has been a terrific resource and has set my mind at ease many times in my journey! Half my class was new moms and others were on a second or third pregnancy so the class is good for all expectant mothers.

My Hypnobirthing class with Debi was phenomenal. A co-worker who took her class 16 years ago recommended her highly to me so I had to give her a shot. I signed up for the class knowing that a vaginal birth may not be medically possible for me but I wanted to learn the relaxation techniques to help prepare me for any type of birth. My husband Ben joined for all of the classes and we were educated on so many aspects of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I used the rainbow relaxation meditation provided by Debi every day twice a day to ease my mind and provide me with anxiety relief. Fast forward to my delivery, I ended up needing a scheduled cesarean or a belly birth as Debi says. The skills and techniques learned in my hypnobirthing class allowed me to enter the DEEPEST meditative/hypnosis state I’ve ever reached in my entire life as I was on the operating table waiting for the birth process to begin. In fact, I was in such a peaceful and relaxed state of hypnosis and consciousness that several nurses/doctors had to tap my arm to get my attention to confirm my name/DOB as medical staff usually does prior to procedures. I felt that this meditation I achieved was a gift from God and me meeting my coworker who recommended Debi was yet another blessing from God. If you’re on the fence about hypnobirthing, I can assure you that you will not regret the investment. Learning how to breathe, meditate, and prioritize your holy body during pregnancy and life afterwards is a gift. In fact, during MRI procedures and dental work, I use my hypnobirthing breathing and skills! Debi is the real deal and so so sweet and loving. I felt safe, nurtured, excited and honored to be pregnant and working with her during such a vulnerable time in my life.
