As a Coast Guard wife stationed here in Staten Island, I can honestly say Joann’s Deli on Bay Street has become a second home for me and so many Coast Guard families. My husband and his crew are always stopping by for breakfast before heading to the Fort Wadsworth base, and all of us spouses know that if you want the best New York breakfast in Staten Island, this is the place.
My go-to is the classic bacon, egg & cheese with salt, pepper, ketchup — it’s the real New York flavor you can’t get anywhere else. Their bagels with cream cheese and coffee are perfect in the mornings, and I love treating myself to their French toast or pancakes when I have extra time. For lunch, I switch it up with their cheesesteak, Italian hero, or a fresh taco or burrito — everything is made hot and fresh, and it always hits the spot.
What makes Joann’s even more special is how military-friendly they are. They know the Coast Guard community well, and it shows in how they treat their customers. Whether it’s Coasties grabbing food on duty, families picking up dinner, or even Coast Guard spouses planning a catering order, Joann’s always delivers with a smile. Their catering trays are a lifesaver for events and gatherings — plenty of food, and everyone raves about it.
The location couldn’t be better — right by the Staten Island Ferry and the Coast Guard base — so it’s convenient for commuters, military, locals, and even tourists visiting New York.
If you’re looking for the best Staten Island deli near the Coast Guard base, with everything from bacon egg & cheese, bagels, pancakes, Italian heroes, cheesesteaks, burgers, tacos, and burritos, you’ll find it at Joann’s Deli. It’s a Staten Island tradition, and our Coast Guard family couldn’t recommend it more!”
“I can honestly say Joann’s Deli on Bay Street in Staten Island is one of the best delis in New York City, and it deserves way more attention. Every time I come here, the food is fresh, hot, and full of that real New York flavor that tourists dream about and locals live on.
The bacon, egg & cheese with salt, pepper, ketchup is absolutely perfect — exactly the kind of sandwich you want when you think of a true NYC breakfast. Their bagels with cream cheese and coffee hit the spot, and I’ve even had the pancakes and French toast — both amazing. At lunch, you can’t go wrong with their Italian heroes, Philly cheesesteaks loaded with onions and peppers, or a classic cheeseburger and fries. They even make tacos and burritos, which are just as good as their deli favorites, giving you the best of both worlds.
What makes Joann’s Deli stand out even more is its location and community. It’s right by the Staten Island Ferry and the Coast Guard base at Fort Wadsworth, which makes it super convenient for commuters, military members, and tourists coming from Manhattan, Brooklyn, or New Jersey. The place is military-friendly, the staff are welcoming, and you can feel the history — Joann’s has been serving Staten Island since the 1970s.
I’ve also used them for catering trays, and they delivered big time. Whether it’s a work lunch, family party, or even something for a Coast Guard crew, their Staten Island catering service is reliable, affordable, and delicious.
If you’re searching for the best Staten Island deli near the ferry, or you just want that authentic New York bacon egg & cheese, Italian hero, or bagel with coffee, Joann’s Deli is the place. Whether you’re a local, a tourist, or military, this deli is the heart of Staten Island. Highly recommend!”
The food was so good we had to come back the very next day! I had a chorizo wrap that was out of this world. My kids ate every last bit of the sandwiches they ordered too. The service was excellent and I appreciated how friendly Willy and the team were to us.
Yoooooooo the sandwich was mad goooood!
Grilled cheese with pepper jack cheese, bacon and avocado. It was rush hour and they still hooked me up with a good sandwich.
Haven't tried anything here except the bacon egg and cheese and a BLT.
Best BE&C. I've had in a long time. Generous amounts of bacon and egg.
I know it's only a BE&C but they make it so good and there are so many places make it so bad. The Blt was also very good and not disappointing.
