As a small business owner with a boatload of personally guaranteed debts, bankruptcy felt like a tidal wave I was trying to out run for a long time, and then it finally hit me. Ooof.

I spoke to a lot of lawyers, and each one had a different suggestion of what I should do. I ultimately picked John Lehr because of three reasons: 1) I liked that he answered his own phone. I actually didn't need to talk to him a whole lot during the process in the end, but, going into it, I appreciated that he seemed very available. 2) His fee seemed to me to be more reasonable than most of the other lawyers I spoke to. I appreciated this, because I felt in a position where I could very well end up fleeced by professionals taking advantage of people in a vulnerable position (people who've already demonstrated poor choices when it comes to money!). 3) His plan for how to handle things seemed simple compared to some of the other solutions attorneys had pitched me -- straightforward and easy for me to follow.

John ended up being very friendly, no-nonsense, understanding and kind. The entire process ended up being much less stressful than I feared. I'm glad to have found him. I hope to not have to work with him in this capacity again, of course, but I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to declare bankruptcy. I'm sorry you're in the position you're in, but hopeful that John will be able to shepherd you through your hard time and make it... not as bad as you fear it might be. Courage!
