I began at Knoll Farm about a year ago, returning to riding after about 20 years away. I LOVE the horses and the care and consideration they are given. Nina is my instructor and she has been extremely patient with me and always kind and insightful. The grounds are lovely and expansive. Easy to get to from Manhattan - no car needed! I leave every time feeling invigorated, like I learned SO much, and impatient to return as soon as possible. Side note — I see Nina with many adult beginners and also “anxious” beginners and everyone seems very happy with her.

We were visiting from Florida and my 17 year old daughter wanted to ride. Holly was an amazing instructor. They match her with a perfect horse. She loved it. We definitely found a barn that we will visit every time we are in NY.

My horse and I absolutely love being at Knoll Farm. The staff are all so wonderful—friendly, supportive, and clearly passionate about what they do. The environment is warm and welcoming, filled with people who truly enjoy their horses and foster a positive, pleasant atmosphere. After taking years off from riding, coming back here has been the best decision. I couldn’t be happier. The trainers are fantastic, the horses are amazing, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

I’ve owned horses for 15+ years, this is my favorite barn on the island. We have 5 riding arenas.. giant grass paddocks here. The staff and owners truly care about all of the horses. They have the best lesson horses if you’re seeking a lesson program too. My horses and I absolutely love boarding at knoll farm!!

I have been going to Knoll Farm for a few years now. I hadn't ridden regularly in decades, and it was recommended to me as a good place for lessons with my son. I couldn't believe that a property like this still exists and is connected to NYC with public transportation! I live in Brooklyn and now share a lease on a horse that is boarded there and ride 2-4 times a week. After Claremont Stables disappeared I never dreamed that one could live in NY and just take the LIRR and walk accross the street to a beautiful property with 3 outdoor rings (+ a dressage ring) AND an indoor arena. The size and character of the property is from another time, and the staff who care for the horses and the loveliest people who put these beautiful animals first. That goes for the school horses as well as the boarded horses. As far as instruction, I have worked with several trainers there and I have been so grateful for the excellent, patient instruction. They will work with your goals and your levels. It is possible to take dressage and jumping lessons, and/or to learn from scratch or to go back to riding as an adult. They also have an IEA team, and fun events like Halloween and Holiday parties. I love the other boarders and students as well, and the warm atmosphere. Knoll is a great community and facility, and I highly recommend you checking it out if you are horse curious or looking for a new place to ride or board.
