This building is a must visit if you are visiting the Lighthouse. Building houses the original lenses of around 1850s. Lady gave us wonderful tour of the lens house. She explained how Lighthouse was operational during 1826 on words. There is no fees to visit this building and it is very educational for young kids to learn about optics. There are stairs and platform around the hugh lens for you to have up close observation. Original lens cost was around 15K in mid 1800s.

The Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society has been doing great work for decades, with the lighthouse and with its associated history and artifacts. The lens building and display is first-rate, with a huge 19th-century first-order Fresnel lens on display amid interpretive materials. Of course, it is not just any lens - this lens used to reside in the lantern room of the lighthouse right outside the window. Even if the lighthouse wasn't there, the lens display alone would be worth the visit.

The lighthouse museum and gift shop at Robert Moses Beach on Fire Island. It is the only part of Fire Island you can drive to.... the museum is definitely worth a visit.

Very nicely kept and historical buildings. Knowledgeable staff and interesting displays. I highly recommend going into the lens building to see the old lens of the previous lighthouse. They leave a small bulb on for you to observe.
