One of my favorite lighthouses in NJ! Both sides you can climb. Night climbs are beautiful and the history is interesting. The parking can be limited on busy days like when the lighthouse challenge is happening, but there's parking at the local school and you walk across the field to get there. Also be careful driving to/from the lighthouse as the road is tight, need to go slow.
Really interesting grounds. I went right as they opened, and there was barely anybody else there. Made it a peaceful visit. The tower gives you a great view of the area, but it is extremely hot up there, at least in August when I visited. I will probably visit again in the winter to check out the other tower, since I unfortunately only had time for one of them. Grounds are well kept, and the employees are all very nice - especially the two in the gift shop who stamped my Lighthouse Passport. They took their time to check the stamps to make sure I had a good imprint. Lovely!
FIY - Be careful with the screen door. It's a lot louder than I thought it would be.
I never manage to get here before closing at 1630, and you're tresspassing if you walk beyond the gate, so the photos I managed will have to do. I'll keep trying. Beautiful set of lights.
Enjoyed our visits. Grounds and view are beautiful. We climbed the towers but the sky was hazy. We were told the view is very nice when clear. Haze usually burns off in the afternoon. Staff was very friendly. A very unique place.
Such an amazing experience. Pulling up to park, you see just how big it is! We walked around the entire site first-they had signs with a lot of educational information. There's also beautiful views looking out at the water!
They have two "shed" looking buildings that both have memorabilia from the past, in addition to the one showing you how light is made for lighthouses.
You can climb both towers (I only climbed one but it wasn't terrible) just small staircase. The inside museum is just as beautiful and they have a nice gift shop at the end.
I'm so glad we were able to go and see this and suggest if you are in the area, you see it too!
