Sloatsburg Travel Plaza has been recently renovated, and it's an even better place to stop than before. Being the biggest plaza on the Thruway, it fittingly has a lot of restaurants. There is Shake Shack, Panda Express, Chick-fil-A, Dunkin, and Starbucks. Plenty of seating inside, and like the old plaza, the restrooms are upstairs. Plenty of parking outside as well. It looks a lot better without the parking garage. A nice place to stop northbound on I-87.
This is a good rest stop. Parking, restrooms, cleanliness, all acceptable.
The worst Shake Shack experience though. I don't blame the employees because something must be bad there... They are constantly angry, like they don't want to be there, at all. When i asked for tap water they said they don't have that anymore, it was replaced with root beer. But if you're hungry, the food is still good... Just know the service is abysmal... And wear some kind of personal protection equipment cuz the anger darts come right at you.
Panda Express was not as good as it should have been. Didn’t taste fresh. Chic Filet was swamped. Bathrooms are on the top floor. Big bathrooms. Very nice.

This was our first stop while on a driving trip to Canada. Stopped for coffee and bathrooms. Got coffee at DD and it was fresh tasting. The bathrooms upstairs were spacious and clean. Nice to have an escalator. Lots of parking.
