Hello this review is a long time coming. My name is Doug Dillman. My aunt Connie was at Somerset Gardens for seven years in the area for patients with dementia. I would visit her once a week and the staff was consistently, professional, and Caring . But it was always fed was always clean and busy with nursing home activities. Thank you, Somerset Gardens.🦖👍
Navigating the world of assisted living can feel overwhelming and frustrating at best. The process of finding the right place for a loved one in their later years is both emotional and daunting. From the first online search to dealing with endless calls and emails, the landscape of senior care is often a maze of confusion, codes, and jargon.
But then I found Somerset Gardens. From the moment I stepped through their doors, I was met with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine sense of care. The executive director Marla and her team stood out immediately, offering a personal touch that was both refreshing and reassuring. The staff is nothing short of extraordinary—focused, caring, and above all, authentic.
The facility itself is immaculate, with a welcoming atmosphere that feels more like home than a typical care center. My father was greeted by name not only by the nursing staff but even by the cooks in the kitchen. Everyone, from the front desk to the medical team, exudes a level of dedication that is rare in this industry.
In just a short period of time, my father has made significant progress. He’s gained weight, made friends, and most importantly, he calls Somerset Gardens “home”—a sentiment that was unimaginable just a few months ago. The medical care coordination is seamless, and the support provided to both residents and their families is invaluable.
Somerset Gardens has transformed what was once a stressful and uncertain journey into an experience that brings comfort and peace of mind. It’s a rare place that lives up to the promises so many others make but fail to deliver.
Thank you, Somerset Gardens, for not only improving my father’s life but mine as well.
I would like to give a shout out to Jasmine who does an awesome job at the Somerset Gardens Country Cottage. She's always keeping us updated with our parents Joan and Jack.
I have had two wonderful experiences at Somerset Gardens. My mother lived independently there for two years and enjoyed many of the activities offered through the terrific recreation department. (Hugs to Barbara and Stephanie!) Canasta, MaJong, movies, painting, and Bingo were just some of her favorites. She made lovely friends with residents and staff. She especially enjoyed the privacy and comfort of her studio apartment and her balcony when she wanted to cozy up to read a book or relax watching television.
A few years later, we needed to find an assisted living facility for my mother-in-law as it became too difficult for her to manage independently due to declining memory. It was great not having to "shop" around, because we knew all her needs would be met with compassion and dignity at Somerset Gardens. The staff at Somerset communicates regularly to update us and make the appropriate changes with regard to my mother-in-law's plan of care. A huge shout out to the social worker, Samantha Kuhns. She is simply amazing. Whether it be by email or phone, and whatever it is I need, Sam gets it done. She truly loves working with this population and it shows! The aides care lovingly for my mother-in law and it gives our family peace of mind to know that she is safe and happy.
They have two inviting dining rooms with two different seating options. The food is served restaurant style and there are many food options available in addition to the daily entrees. Both moms enjoyed/enjoy the dining experiences.
Snacks and beverages are offered in the afternoon which also facilitates socializing among the residents. Holidays are festively celebrated and the energy is palpable! In the summertime, the outdoor courtyard lends itself to beautiful sunshine, barbeques and more. The receptionists at the front desk are cheerful and welcoming. My husband and I visit very frequently and truly feel a "family vibe."
The facility is clean, and well-maintained and we have noticed a few upgrades and improvements recently. It is never easy when the time comes to have to make life changes for family members and the cost of many of these places make that job even harder. Somerset Gardens is reasonably priced and as far as we are concerned, has checked off all the boxes on our list for a warm and caring environment for our loved ones.
I can't say enough good things about Somerset. My almost deaf, 99yr old father with dementia Iived at Cottage for the last 8 months of his life. Jazzmine, the case manager, made sure he was well cared for and content. Jazzmine kept me updated on his status and was always upbeat with him. She and Edvin even communicated with him in Chinese with Google translate. Dawn and the full aide staff gave him the freedom and the safe environment to live out his last days fulfilled and on his own terms, including his peaceful passing. Marla and Somerset staff were great to work with and always available to me. I am grateful they were there during our difficult times with dad. They made it easier to accept our decision to place dad's care there.
