We booked 3 nights with the Grove
First night - couldn’t get there cuz didn’t realize we can’t drive on fire island. It was late and no more ferry. 😂
Second Day - we took ferry and finally arrived but only to find out that kids are not allowed and we have a 9 year old 😆

Hotel staff is friendly and helped calling nearby hotel and eventually found one on Ocean Beach. We left our bags with them and explored Cherry Grove before getting water taxi to the new hotel. The Grove refunded all 3 nights. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thanks!

My girlfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful time visiting Cherry Grove/Fire Island for the first time, and the Grove Hotel was a big reason why.

Our room was immaculate, it appeared to have been recently renovated/updated, with plenty of room for 2 and a nice mini-balcony for viewing the wildlife at the pool and the bar. 😎

Cherry Grove is a tiny hamlet, so location can't be a real issue no matter where you stay, but the hotel is literally steps away from the clubs, restaurants, shops, market, ferry, water taxi, etc. And it has its own great club (the Ice Palace).

But what really sets this hotel apart is the staff. Just so incredibly friendly and laid back and super helpful anytime we needed anything - like checking our luggage when we got there early, texting us when our room was ready while we enjoyed a cocktail by the pool, providing extra pool towels on request, room cleaning on demand. Even the cleaning staff was friendly and engaging.

It's hard to think of any way they can improve the experience, so I'll get very picky and suggest they could expand the pool hours (closing the pool at 8pm or even 6pm on some days was an epic tragedy 😫).

Nonetheless, if we ever get back to Cherry Grove we know where to stay.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed on the second floor last year, this time we were on the first floor. Highly recommend requesting second floor. You hear everything above you the walls are paper thin. People were dancing in the room above us every night and it was ridiculously loud woke us up throughout the night. My room wasn’t really clean when we got here. Looked like coffee was thrown against the wall in the bathroom and so much sand on the floor. The WiFi was horrible this time I couldn’t do anything on my phone. This place is dog friendly! I love dogs but people’s dogs were barking all day every second locked in peoples hotel rooms :( there’s a metal bar thext to the bed to hang your phone wires. It’s in the most dangerous spot.

Overall, the hotel did not meet my nor my boyfriend's expectations, especially given the price point and the ratings we saw previous to booking. I usually would not leave a review, but I genuinely did not think some parts of our experience were okay.

For starters, the floor was not clean when we arrived. While slippers were recommended- that should be, perhaps, because hardwood floors can be cold NOT because the floors might not be cleaned properly such that sand and little particles will stick to my feet while I walked around the room for the first time.

Additionally, on our last night, we discovered that we had no hot water. My boyfriend and I were exhausted and cold after a late night at the beach, and it was frustrating to have to deal with a lack of hot water. But of course, things can happen at no fault of the hotel. Thus, what really solidified our rating and opinion of the hotel was the lack of service and care from the hotel. We called the after hours number as suggested twice, and we were directed to voicemail both times. I left a voicemail and no one called back, not even the next day when normal office hours resumed. When we checked out, the staff didn't ask about our stay or for feedback signaling to us a lack of care to acknowledge any issues or desire to remedy issues that may have arisen for their guests.

My boyfriend and I were truly disappointed at the lack of customer service and overall quality. While we may revisit the location as the neighborhood is cute and super friendly, we would not stay at this hotel again nor recommend it to others.
