Easy to get to parking. The trail was a bit icy but not too bad.
The ice caves were absolutely magnificent!! Couldn't believe how cold they were!! Trail wasn't too difficult but so much fun!
The trail up to the falls is about 3.5 miles, one way, so unless you want to hike over 10 miles to do the loop, this would be an out and back trail. There are really no views of the falls, as you are right on top of the falls. However, you can inquire at the visitor center where the best view is, which I have not been to. In cold weather have layers of clothing with you, as it can easily be 10-15 degrees colder up there, and it can get super windy.
Overall a very beautiful hike, esp in the fall when its cool outside. However, the trail is dependent on how wet the weather is before (more wet, the better the view at the Falls) and having good grip shoes with waterproofing was a plus since many parts of the trail had standing water the day these pictures were taken. Totally recommend swinging by Sam's Point as well if taking this trail. Note on the website, there's a $10 parking reservation May thru October and slots fill up fast.
The trail overall is pretty easy the incline and decline isnt that bad. But keep in mind you WILL be in exposed sunlight most of the way. Also when your walking on it you'll have no way of knowing when your near the end of the path. It'll feel like your walking forever with no end in sight (it takes about 40 min).
I don't know if there was a path to see the waterfall from the bottom but being able to see the waterfall from up top was still an amazing view. And being able to stand in the water before the water went over the edge was pretty amazing too.
I also highly recommend checking out Sam's point on the way back. It truly gives you a breathtaking view of the area
