Who knew GE’s old learning and development center would make such a perfect space for a hotel. Feels like a mini college campus! I love it and will be coming back next time I’m in Westchester!

This is an absolutely beautiful property in what is sort of a hotel desert. We have traveled for many, many years to this area on Thanksgiving to visit family - every single year - and have never been able to find our go-to hotel. The Windrose On Hudson just became The One. We are picky hotel guests, but we're also able to adjust our expectations to the area, price, and type of hotel we're in at any moment. This hotel exceeded expectations in most respects. The physical property, buildings, grounds, and even the rooms are really, really lovely. Contrary to other reviews here, there ARE fridges in rooms (we were not one-off lucky; we rented three rooms on our stay, and all had fridges) but there is NO coffee in-room. There is a safe, and an excellent smart TV (despite another reviewer who said the TV seemed like a computer monitor or something weird, ours was a full size, fully connected, smart TV with all the apps AND live tv - we were able to watch the Thanksgiving parade on cable and then switch over to Prime for some Landman...). Although there's no coffee in-room, there's a Keurig in the lobby Grab and Go area but more importantly they've opened a full and wildly cute cafe on property called Cafe 56. It is just a few steps out the door (a small problem in bad weather) with very decent muffins, coffee drinks (cappucino, latte, etc), breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, etc. Cafe 56 also serves as the hotel bar in the evenings, though we never made it there. The restaurant was not open our entire trip (I'm not sure when or if it ever is) but there's a huge area with pool tables, sports fields, fooseball, etc. The cleaning staff was effective, kind, and patient, and passed one of our markers for great service: we slept in a couple days with our DND doorhangers out, went out for the day long after the cleaning crew had done our hallway, and STILL came home to clean rooms at the end of the day. My only complaint, and it's slight, is that the front desk staff minds its business way too much: they never look up, never say hello, and do not ackonwledge your existence unless and until you approach them. When you do, they are perfectly nice; but it would be nice to get a hello or a good morning, especially when the hotel is, for now, so lightly populated. NOTE: this is a corporate retreat that has only opened to individual guests in the last few months so they are ironing out the kinks, but it was pretty darn ironed for our visit!

While the building is gorgeous and the grounds are beautiful (especially in the fall), don't be deceived. As most the reviews stated, there are no amenities in the room. No coffee maker, no fridge or microwave, and the TV looked like a small computer monitor hooked up to a cable box. There was a little "Grab and Go" area with soda, juice, and coffee but it was a pretty far walk from where our room was. We were told of this "kitchenette" thing that we could use but we couldn't get access and apparently no one else could either. We checked out the River Fox to grab a drink and play some pool, which half the sticks were bent and the table lining was ripped in a few places.
The last night we stayed, there was some event going on which had us circling the parking lots a few times for a spot. Why wouldn't they have hotel guest parking? Once we got to the lobby, after the uphill hike from the lot, it was incredibly loud from the event. We had decided to order food, as the only restaurant on campus didn't offer a lot of meatless options, and that was a whole ordeal. The driver was having a hard time figuring out where to go. I was on the phone with the driver, letting him know my husband was heading to the lobby, when I could hear the receptionist rudely talking to him as he was dropping off our food.
For the price we paid to stay the weekend, we expected way more and was very disappointed in what this place ended up being.

Just checked out this morning. If you have any physical disabilities this is not a place for you to stay! The parking is down a very steep hill and even after that the handicap parking is at the back of the lot. They do not offer a shuttle or golf cart to help. When we checked in on Friday at 11:30pm there was not bell cart we could use. I have a broken foot and the only parking was the third available let that is also up a steep hill I was lucky a nice couple gave me a ride to the front desk. When checking in I asked the gentleman if we could get a room closer to the lobby or elevators and he never acknowledged the statement. There was a gentleman at the desk standing off to the side when I arrived and he young man never said hello will be with you next or anything to I was just standing there with no idea what was happening (he was not typing or talking with the guest). A good evening will be with you in a moment will have really started the stay off on a good note. Second his directions for where the elevator was located were not only poor they were horrible. He pointed at an exit sign which from the front seat alone you can see 2-3. Instead he could have said at the first hallway make a right. When we finally got to our room we only had two pillows, I tried dialing the operator 5 time and the call always went to voicemail. I walked to the front desk and asked for some pillows. The your man had 0 at the desk and there was no one other employee at the hotel that could with our request. How are you going to leave one employee for an entire hotel. On our last night there was a wedding which took a large part of the parking to which were told we might have to park on grass by the helicopter pad. The I do recommend this hotel for disabled or others.

    Please see the photo attached
    L. I is for lobby location.
    1. That is the first lobby location.
    2. Second lot where we had to park night one.
    3. Is the helipad some guests where forced to park.

It has great potential. I would compare their gym to a Planet Fitness. Definitely one of the best hotel gyms I have ever seen. There were 2 staff members who really stood out from the others, the others were meh. They have a very nice café with lots of comfortable and cozy seating areas where they offer drinks and pastries for purchase but once they ran out, they’re out. They say the café is open until 11pm but if you want something made with the espresso machine or a pastry, you’re out of luck. It's whatever is in the refrigerated display; yogurt parfaits, bottled drinks. Their say they offer a firepit, fireplace, cornhole and s’mores but you have to ask for it. Considering it's around $300+/night, you shouldn’t have to ask for it. They have a kitchenette that was stocked when we arrived Fri night but by Sat evening they were out & didn't restock. The room & bathroom were spacious but out of the 3 nights we stayed there, they only cleaned it once. We couldn’t adjust the temperature of the room and it was very cold. The grounds had great potential, but several areas looked like the gathering just finished and they hadn’t gotten around to cleaning for the 3 days we were there. One area had several broken glasses on the ground. God forbid someone was wondering in that area and didn't notice, they could have tripped and have gotten seriously hurt if they stood or fell on the partially broken glass with the sharp points sticking up. By Sunday the garbage pails by the front door were overflowing. I don’t think there is enough parking if they had a full house and it wasn’t convenient to get to it. It’s about an 5 min walk up or down the hill to get to the parking lot. With other words, it's a hike if you're going uphill. We lucked out that during our stay it didn’t rain or snow. At $300+/night you shouldn’t have to hike up or down the hill to get to your car.
