I get takeout from Moringa. It's for sure the best Indian restaurant in the area. We like the Tikka Masala and garlic naan, but the real star of the show here is the Gobi 65... it's better than what the Indian restaurants on Lexington Avenue in Midtown are serving, and that's saying a lot.
When you enter the restaurant there are always Indian people eating there, which is always a great indicator for me as well.
The lollipop chicken is super tasty, and both the goat curry and butter chicken hit the spot. The garlic naan — you have to get it. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat! The service excellent as well. The wife and I will be coming back here.
I was told by a coworker to try out Moringa even though they couldn't remember the name, and since I have been to India and had to cook Indian food before I thought it would be nice to try. So on my day off Friday I went to Moringa even though it was a 35 minute drive each way.
When I entered the place it didn't look real fancy which made me feel better because I was dressed casual. I was greeted by a lady wearing traditional Indian attire who told me to sit where I wanted and she brought me a menu.
First off I had their Samosas which tasted nice and the two dipping sauces complimented them (though I preferred the green sauce)
For my main course I ordered garlic naan and chicken curry. I asked for the curry to be hot and the heat stayed in my mouth the whole time I ate it. The garlic naan was nice and delicious side to keep me going.
Overall I was joyful to get the food and get to be away from my house for a few hours, yet I do wish it was closer because Friday traffic into and out of Waterbury can be difficult.
Drove 40 minutes to try Moringa after seeing great reviews, and they did not disappoint. The appetizers were fantastic; we tried chicken, fish, and lamb, and each dish had a distinct and delicious flavor profile. As someone from Chennai, I can say the taste was very close to authentic South Indian food from back home. We will absolutely make the trip to visit again whenever we're in the area!
Firstly, they have very good customer service and they were very helpful. My daughter is Indian and she had an event at school and they made a butter chicken tray last minute, everyone enjoyed it so we gave it a try. We had mango lassi, butter chicken, shrimp curry, paneer butter masala, shrimp fried rice, and nutella dosa for dessert. Everything was fresh and delicious the sauces were very flavorful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
