Art Hinkelbein Martial Arts Academy

My son has been going to this martial arts studio for almost 3 years now, and it has truly been a great experience for him and our family. My son started in the little ninja program, and is now a one stripe orange belt, and he is looking forward to continuing his skills with martial arts. Grandmaster Art and Master Melissa are wonderful instructors and take the time to explain new skills and lessons to the kids while teaching the children discipline and respect. They also take the time to talk to all the kids in attendance and make them believe they are all valued and important. They also take time to say hi to my daughter who just comes to watch her big brother.
The students going through this program have to work hard for every belt promotion, and you can see that every child who earns their next stripe or belt is proud of their accomplishments, but so are Grandmaster Art and Master Melissa.
My son loves to go to martial arts, and I look forward to him moving forward at the studio and all the skills he will earn.

Our son has been going to AHMA for almost a year and it has been a wonderful experience. I appreciate that Master Melissa spends a lot of individual time with each student to make sure they are doing skills correctly and hold them accountable. They do not just go through the motions and send them to the back of the line. Students have to put in a lot of time to earn each new stripe or belt which helps them understand the importance of commitment and perseverance rather than instant gratification. Both Masters Art and Melissa make the effort to get to know each student as an individual. They have helped our son recognize his personal strengths and continue to encourage him in the areas he needs to improve.

Master Melissa is fantastic. She enriches the entire child, mind, body and spirit. In a society where everyone gets a trophy and there are not realistic expectations around winning and losing, kids in this studio are learning real life, discipline, focus, accountability, how to be gracious when winning and losing, all served up with a lot of love. I feel safe with my child there and know he is being taught valuable skills and life lessons in a safe environment. They take doing it right, the students well being and safety very seriously. Can't say enough about Grand Master Art and Master Melissa!

My son absolutely loves learning martial arts from Master Art & Master Melissa. From day one he loved it! They truly teach more than martial arts. They teach self confidence, self respect & respect for others. What I love seeing is the support the kids have for one another! Helping each other learn & making each other smile. Over two years later & my son still looks forward to his next class! Making lifelong friends in the process! Best decision hands down!

I wish I had more stars to give!!! My daughter has been attending classes here for over 2 years and it has been the best decision we have made for her. She has become much more confident and is more disciplined not only on the mat buy in her everyday routines as well. Grand-master Art and Master Melissa are true examples of what Martial Artists stand for. They are both kind, respectful and caring individuals who have created an environment where children not only feel safe, but as though they have another family as well.
